c17Lat Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 i might be able to borrow someone's boat, but I don't have wiring for my trailer hitch. Should I just go to uhaul and get general wiring done for my car? I know next to nothing about this stuff so any suggestions would be great. Quote
w4svc Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 That would be the easy way. But beware of their lighted plug with the l.e.d.s they short out. Mine was only about a year old when it happened. Started home only to get pulled over and told I did not have tail lights. I replaced the fuse just to see the smoke roll from the tail of the truck. The plug was burning from the inside without any damage to the outside. So if they offer it get the plug without the l.e.d.s Quote
Kevin Davis Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 all i know is, brown is tail and running lights yellow is left blinker (drivers side) green is right blinker (passenger side) white is ground so if you have off color wires then just make sure to label it when you install, and make sure you attach them to the right color for what you need to fix on the harness at the end of your car/truck. there it should be the correct color. hope this makes sense. also its best if you know how to soder the wires together and put heat shrink over the connection. just makes it a little more stable connection and water tight. if not and you have trouble later then it is at one of your connection and you will have to trace it down and that can be a chore. tennwalkinghorse Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Its a smart man who knows his limitations. If you don't know any thing about wiring pay someone who does. It will be cheaper in the long run. If you do some thing wrong and smoke an on board computer you will be in for a job that will cost you big bucks. Some times a little knowledge can be dangers. Take my word on this I have seen it a hundred times. Quote
