Smelter96 Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 Anyone ever use this? How does it compare to the KVD l&l? It's completely clear, whereas I thought the line and lure was more opaque. Quote
tim_kovar Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 I used the bps version for one season a couple years ago and I was pretty happy with it. I think the kvd conditioner seemed slightly better overall but the bps conditioner did a good job for the price difference too. Quote
Super User FryDog62 Posted March 30, 2019 Super User Posted March 30, 2019 We need a chemist to analyze the specific makeup and tell us if it’s the same as KVD Quote
GoneFishingLTN Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 Does this stuff really help at all I use it and can’t tell a bit of difference Quote

Most of us know that motor oil is produced by the same companies and re branded for sale. Same with batteries. I'd bet a signed dollar that this is no different. Maybe a SLIGHT different formula. Even breweries re label their booze for other companies to sell as their own. Quote
OnthePotomac Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 I use KVD and have for the last 10 years, but I did try BPS line conditioner last year and found it to be greasy, which means it is loaded with silicone, which, of course, washes off. KVD is polymers which are hydrophobic and permeates the line. It won't wash off. Quote

Whether one calls it washing off or wearing off KVD does lose its effectiveness fairly quick. Funny illustration; I use it on our mini blind cords to make them slick again and after a couple of months it wears away. Personal experience has shown it to be beneficial on my braid and mono. The best solution to the cost is to buy it in larger quantities, TW sells it in gallons. Quote
OnthePotomac Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 I only reapply KVD about every fourth trip on the river the day before I fish. This keeps the hydrophobic feature ( water repellant)up to snuff. It does not wash off, but it does wear off. Quote
