Yesterday morning I spooled up some 10lb Sufix Advance for the 1st time and sloshed it up with KVD L&L. I've been using 12lb for the past several months and liking it. It gets whacky in very cold temps but becomes more manageable over 40°. I really liked the 10lb, for as long as it lasted, for light baits like the 1/8oz Storm 360 searchbait(7-8 grams with the included trailer) and the 1/4oz Duel Hardcore minnow. No problem chucking those lures way out there from the shore. Compared to lines like Big Game, the Advance is very smooth to the touch. Don't know if that means anything or not but it's noticeable while its running over my digit. I got caught up in some mildly snaggy stuff while dragging a tube and was able to get out of it. It seems quite strong. No break offs with a polamar, SD jam, or improved clinch. The pads aren't in yet but there are still places that can be troublesome. Anyway, seems like good stuff if you can buy it on sale.

 

I hit a bank last night after work. Everything was going just peachy for an hour and half. That's until I clipped the very end of a tree limb right next to me upon launch. KaPow!

Glad you like the line though. Sufix Advance is becoming one of my favourite mono line

Did the same thing to a brand new spool of 10# Tatsu.  Only difference was I snagged the boat carpet.  I feel your pain.

Yep, been there too. When I bank fish, I take 2 phantom swings before actual launching to make sure I have the clearance I want.

Schedule some time in your fishing shed.   Have good lighting.  With a good line pic and maybe a 6-pac you might be able to solve that back lash.  I've solved worse - just takes time.  BUT . . if the weather is decent and fishing shed time takes away from genuine fishing time, cut it out and buy new line.  You can buy more line - extra fishing time is difficult to purchase.

i think the sufix titanium was discontinued?

 

I can't get the Advanced any where around here in Ontario (places that had it are sold out) but i did manage to get a bunch of spools of Sufix Siege at 50% off (Bass Pro spring classic sale)

I find the Siege is like that too and it does cast very well, so I definitely think it helps/.

 

One thing I did find was that i had trouble getting improved clinch knots to hold with the slick sufix monofilaments, once i went with the palomar knot i cant break the stuff lol

 

Sufix makes great mono all around

If you want a way to avoid that in the future you could always make a long cast, pull off about 30 feet of line and then put a piece of scotch tape where the line meets the spool. That way the line can't backlash any further than the piece of tape. Just a suggestion.

I just spooled up some 14 lb on 2 baitcasters. Can't believe how well this stuff casts. It's also really sensitive.

I just got back from a wade with 55°temps. That's the warmest weather I've used this line in since I spooled it up. So much nicer than when it was really cold. It's survived several large pickeral that nicked it up, but I landed each one. Even with teeth marks it was very hard to break it. It's worth it to tie on a heavy lure,or one with good resistance, for your first cast of the day in order to give this line a stretch. Definitely relaxes the line a bit.

 

I'm about to spool up some 17lb Siege for deep cranks and squarebills in some snaggy spots. If the weather holds out I'll have more to say tomorrow.

Ha! My PB came back in February. I was dying to throw my shiny new BBZ1 shad. Went out in frigid temps wearing brown jersey gloves without the finger tips cut off. That lure shot straight up as the line slipped under my gloved thumb, clipped a tree branch 20 feet overhead, and the spool was blown to smithereens. Much uglier.

I strapped on my spectacles, gave it about 10 minutes, said a few parting words, then el choppo'd it. In with the new.
