I was wondering if anyone knew any good Blue gill imitations.  The best I have found so far are the Storm Wild Eye Swimming Blue Gill and the Cabelas Dig It in a blue gill color.

yeah those things kick some

i was gonna suggest any rapala in bluegill pattern (particularly the DT series....theyre bluegill pattern is amazing...best pattern on a crankbait.)

also, salmo does photo finishes on their lures which means that they print a photo onto the bait, so theyre bluegill looks pretty realistic too.

The "best" bluegill imitations are gonna cost ya.

Matts ultimate and the Bettencourt are probably among the best.

Bagely makes a mini bluegill crankbait that is a killer for smaller bass.

Mattlures Ultimate Bluegill is by far one of the best. I have great success with Rapala DT Series cranks in the bluegill patterns. Just be sure when you are looking for a bluegill imitating bait that color and patterns are not the only things you look for. Swimming action and presentation will be key too. There are some cheaper swimbaits out on the market that look alright, but there action is horrible. They will either swim on their sides or unnaturally. I have had ths experience with some of the Storm Wildeye Series swimbaits. Really hit and miss baits.

I see a lot of really cool baits in here, but the best, IMHO, is the mattlures.  Though, looking through, again, the, "Vagabond Persimmon Seed" also looks great!  ;)

Ichibantackle had them, but it 's been soooooooooooooo long since they had them that I don 't think they are going to have them in the near future and they are really not that expensive, 30 dollars isn 't that much for a hard swimbait in the swimbait world.

Sub swimbait size @ 20 bucks in ***.

Bagley makes some great bluegill and crappie cranks. They come in a few really detailed colors, and dive a variety of depths. Plus you won't have to spend over $20 per lure like for Matts Swimbait or those Japanese baits...

Also, don't waste the $3-4 bucks on that pack of Storm Bluegill swimbaits - the really stink.

can someone post a link to the bagley cranks? i seen those bluegill imitation in a BPS catalog but i cant seem to find them anywhere else and i dont have the catalog anymore.

ok thanks. the crappie version of that looks nice, but the bream sucks imo.

Looks can be deceiving my friend.  I have caught a ton of bass and crappie on the bagley small fry bream in chartruese bream color.  It's one of my fun "go to" baits, when I take out the light sticks.
