I have a 642 Airweight .38 special and am trying to figure out if I want to pocket carry it or carry it inside waistband.

What kind of holster do you use and and how do you carry yours?

Years ago I tried to to go IWB but never felt comfortable.

Ended going boot/ankle carry.

Given the amount of slim single stacks that felt better on my hip, it just made sense

I have the same wheelie. I carry it in a Winthrop leather OWB holster. I also have a Carhart style jacket that is a CC jacket with a hidden inside pocket. That combo is my daily winter jacket.

Not a fan of pocket carry, too fumbly and seems unsafe. Love the J frames, found them most comfortable IWB at 4 oclock position in a cheap not leather holster, can't remember the name, just some synthetic material that felt like neoprene. It was okay but haven't yet found the right holster.

You're probably referring to a Sticky holster (yes, that's the actual name).

I have one for my little LCP2 and it works great. Extremely cheap and works very well. I highly recommend them for smaller firearms for IWB.

I pocket carry an m&p 360 .357 mag every day. I can't remember the brand of holster I have, but it's a fairly loose fit and doesnt come out with the gun like some of them do. Its nylon with rubber on the right side so it sort of sticks on the pocket material when you pull out the gun. In the winter it fits nicely on the inside pocket of a carhart jacket.

I found a Blackhawk holster that is their version of the sticky holster. The material isn’t as thick as the Sticky, it’s almost like a fabric instead of a coated neoprene.

I also picked up a box of Critical Defense 110gr +P loads for SD ammo.

I carry a S&W 340PD .357 Mag in my pocket. It just weighs 11.58 ounces including a set of Crimson Trace laser grips.
