b@ssman Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 I am looking to buy a new fish finder and have narrowed it down between the Humminbird 565 and the Lowrance X96. BPS has a $20 off sale on the Humminbird running this upcoming week. Just wanted to see who has used these models and what kind of experience you have had. Both seem to have good reviews on the BPS website. Also does anyone who if the Lowrance has the capability for a speed sensor? Thanks in advance. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted May 16, 2008 Super User Posted May 16, 2008 I have a 565 on my boat with the transducer mounted on the outside. If you tune it it will even show you strands of hydrilla growing off the bottom when you are sitting in the middle of a grass bed. Have not owned a Lowrance. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted May 16, 2008 Super User Posted May 16, 2008 Yes the X96 can use a speed senor; an accessory list for that unit is here----http://www.lowrance.com/Products/Accessories/Accessories-Search?SearchType=Unit&Unit=X96 Quote
SnowBass23 Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 I have a 565 that I used on my kayak for fishing and it worked great. Since I just recently bought a bass rig I am looking to install it at the trolling motor. Sadly, it is my only point of reference (except the ultra cheap Lowrance x37 that came on the boat!). Quote
