It will be a long time before I’m down to a dollar a fish. Came in to say this. I'm perfectly happy with my gear when I get to use it. It's during the off season that I'm trying to fill the void in some other way. 2 Quote
Super User TOXIC Posted March 27, 2019 Super User Posted March 27, 2019 When I get frustrated, I load up the boat and go to new water. Nothing like the preparation, rigging and lake/river study getting ready to try somewhere new. The cure for wanting more gear is to get out and use the gear you have. 3 Quote
HoosierFisher Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 I'm hoping to get off of the bank this year. So I'm trying not to buy much gear to save for a kayak or a small boat. I have bought a few small things, but I've been mostly good ha. Getting off of the bank is going to do more good for me than another rod or reel that I probably don't need. Quote
Mbirdsley Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 Yeah so I have just bought my 3rd rod and reel set up since December. One is a crank bait rod, the one I just bought is a ML dobyns for finesse stuff and finally I bought a light action 6ft4 president combo for strictly wading and bass fishing rivers. Really the only necessary one was the river rod as I sold my other ones and didn’t have any thing light enough. Before, I tried getting by with just 2-3 rods and honestly I hate taking the time to cut and re-tie. Worse case scenario now is either swap out cranks or change plastic for the most part. I’m only into the 2nd summer of consitrating on bass fishing . There will be many more rods to come after I buy a bigger and newer boat next year. 1 Quote

I have 5 rods all designated for specific things and my oldest being a MH/F st croix mojo bass. I’m looking to replace it for something newer and better but the issue is there is nothing even wrong with it ! I just want to buy a new rod because it’s new and flashy lol. I’m sure everyone can relate .. and I can’t even use the rod yet! How does everyone cure the itch without buying Best way to avoid spending money on something you don't need is to sock the cash away for something better. Because there's always going to be something you want more. 2 Quote
Allen Der Posted March 28, 2019 Posted March 28, 2019 I only needed to replace one spinning reel. ended up buying 3 spinning reels, 1 baitcaster and 2 rods this offseason. probably going to get another rod soon too 1 1 Quote
