Brett's_daddy Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 Has anybody ever heard of these rods before? No, not Carrot Stix but Stix rods from Stix Fishing. I just watched a video from Nick the Informative Fisherman and apparently they sponsor him. I checked out the rods and they look sweet, are priced right at $100 but i just don't know much about them and wondered if anybody has one and how they like it? Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted March 26, 2019 Super User Posted March 26, 2019 Never heard of them. I am looking forward to some replies as a rod at that price is always of interest to me. Quote

Smalls Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 They might be good, but the “my first fishing rod” concept really puts me off. They focused too much on a gimmick that that I really can’t stand. Quote

Nick actually is part owner of the company i believe. He had tons of input into the rod builds, characteristics, lengths, actions and such. Could be decent rods. I doubt he would put his name and reputation on a bunch of junk sticks.......pun intended lol. 1 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 27, 2019 Super User Posted March 27, 2019 They're all moderate fast. Buy five, get one free? The dead lift ratings tell me all I need to know about sensitivity. Meh. Quote

This assumes the intended customer base to whom they are marketing the rods will be able to tell the difference, or will care. People put their names on junk all the time. Don't buy it because Nick's name is associated with it; Buy it because the specs and the features work for you. Quote

To these online/YouTube guys their reputation is everything to them...if they put their names on complete junk and word gets out they're finished and will be replaced by another YouTuber in a heartbeat! If word got out that a YouTuber was hawking equipment that was constantly defective or broke repeatedly, maybe their reputation would take a hit. That's about it, though. Gear that is merely mediocre would not (and, as we can clearly see from other YouTube celebrities, does not) affect their fanbase in the slightest. Quote

To me, it says they aren't going to be as sensitive as other rods in that price range. I could be wrong. I was not thrilled with the Favorite White Bird drop shot model. It had a solid tip that was supposed to be stronger. It was not crisp. Quote

All i meant was the brand isn't just sime sponsor cutting him a check. Its his own actual rod company. He started, designed and built the rods. I completely agree with you and see where you are coming from. I just feel its a little different promoting a brand for a paycheck vs your own brand and livelihood. ?♂️?♂️ Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted March 27, 2019 Super User Posted March 27, 2019 Garanimals® for LMB guys, how cute is that? Maybe we'll see guys on the water with their gloves stitched to their sleeves next winter, munching on fruit roll ups and sipping from juice boxes...... Quote
