It’s pretty easy to determine which casts farther, so why would they lie about it? I doubt they are lying, everything is based off perspective. From their perspective the Slx casts farther, maybe they are more comfortable with the brake system of the Slx thus able to cast farther? Maybe they aren't setting up the Curado correctly? There are so many variables it is impossible to tell for sure. For every 1 person that says the Slx casts farther I'm sure there are 5 more who will vouch for the K. You cant make an educated decision unless you have and use both. 1 Quote

Anyway this topic is about curado K, you recommended SLX which is nice of you, but I doubted you ever handle curado K yourself. Quote

I don't know which one casts farther, but I was just pointing out that two different people said it. 3 hours ago, JustJames said: Who is the second said SLX cast further? As I said up there, all I did was point out that two people said that their SLX casted farther than their curado. I don't know if it does though. Quote
hwright38 Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 Had my Curado K for about a year now, and I'll say it's been a beast. All of last summer it was my work-horse reel. Everything from T-rigs to small swimbaits to cranks. Just as smooth as when I bought it. I did have two things happen/still happening. 1: I somehow managed to get the thumb bar to come all the way up, but the handle wasn't engaged. It was in free spool, but also not in free spool. Clicked down the thumb bar and re-engaged and it was fine. 2: If I back the drag all the way off (I mean really all the way off), and bounce the reel around, I can get the handle to turn backwards. I think I may have put a spacer in backwards or something playing around with the handle, and now it's able to escape the one way bearing. Tightening the drag even just a hair solves the issue entirely. Overall if you're on the fence just buy the reel. ( @LxVE Bassin ) Best reel under $200, and imo it's not even close (sorry Daiwa fans). Makes the SLX feel like a toy. 2 Quote

Sorry but the SLX reel is a toy at best. I can get all the casting distance I could ever want with my cheap doyo based reels but I keep buying reels 5x that price. Probably because casting distance is just about the least important aspect of what makes a good reel these days as even the "low-end" reels have no problems bomb casting lures. If you ever get a chance to handle true enthusiast reels, you'd drop the hype/"cool" factor pretty quick on those SLX products. I'm not knocking on the SLX, they are fairly good for the price but could it replace anything in the Curado line? Not even close. 2 Quote

And this is from a guy that still own and use SLX regularly. 1 Quote

ALL I'm saying is that the SLX casts really well. That's it. I don't hate curados. I've never used curados. I'm sure they're great reels. Probably better than the SLX. I just pointed out that two people who own both say their SLX casts farther than their curado. I don't know if this is true, but I just pointed it out. Quote
waymont Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 Another thread gone a stray. This thread the OP asked how Curado K's are holding up, not if an SLX casts farther. What is all the obsession with casting 4' father anyway? 3 Quote

Smalls Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 I love my Curado, and other than the thumb bar, haven’t had any issues. One time super gluing solved the thumb bar. I love the infinity control, it casts like a dream, and fits my hand like a glove. Occasionally I’ll get a little bit of noise from the pin brakes, but it’s not obnoxiously loud, and a half a drop of oil every so often keeps it quiet. Side note- Wife has an SLX. She’s only had it a few months, but it quickly became her favorite reel. I’m watching closely to see how it holds up, because I can buy 2 (found em online for $75) for the price of a Curado. Quote
Janderson45 Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 Anyone aware of an easy tutorial on swapping out clutch/thumb bar for a Curado K? Guess I got one of the early runs with bad adhesive/design, I’ve been missing the “button” for the thumb bar/clutch for the past two seasons on my single Curado K. Went and bought a new part from Shimano a few weeks ago thinking it was gonna be an easy swap I should’ve done years ago... silly me. Of course it’s not easy, you have to disassemble the entire handle side to access the thumb bar? Anyone? Quote

Of course it’s not easy, you have to disassemble the entire handle side to access the thumb bar? Anyone? Search you tube for curado k cleaning or disassembly and you will find some great step by step videos. If it's a few years old it could probably use a good cleaning anyways. It's not hard just take your time, have the right tools ready, take pics on your phone of each step and where the parts are inside the reel. Watch out for springs on the thumb bar mechanism, they will go flying if you don't put your thumb over the spring when taking the mechanism out. But it will probably take you 30 minutes to an hour being your first time, that's with cleaning and greasing and oiling. Quote
