wasabi_VA Posted March 22, 2019 Posted March 22, 2019 Gonna throw some wacky worm this season for the first time. I plan to use heat shrink to help keep the worm on the hook and shrunk a few pieces onto a few worms tonight. If I wanted to use super glue to help keep the worm from sliding out the shrink tubing do I apply the super glue before I apply the heat (like a drop up under the tubing) or just along an edge of the tubing after I shrink it down? Super User NHBull Posted March 22, 2019 Super User Posted March 22, 2019 If you use a piece of plastic tubing ( fish tank filter). It is snug enough that glue won't be required Quote
ItsHardwick Posted March 22, 2019 Posted March 22, 2019 Also, once you’ve got the hook going through it, it’s not moving anymore anyways. Quote
Super User JustJames Posted March 22, 2019 Super User Posted March 22, 2019 If I use heat shrink tube, I rig it through the tube pass the worm just like you normally wacky rig without tube. No glue need and I don’t shrink the tube either (burnt smell might chase bass away) Quote
Largies4Life Posted March 22, 2019 Posted March 22, 2019 Have you looked into using an O-Wacky tool and getting O-rings and using this method? I found it to be a lot quicker and much less of a headache. I still can catch 10+ fish with one worm! 3 Quote
OnthePotomac Posted March 22, 2019 Posted March 22, 2019 Stick a Senko in your pocket, go to Home Depot or Lowes, pick out an ORing size that slides on the worm and buy a bunch for a couple of bucks. BTW, the O rings go on easier with a little scent jel of some kind on the worm, but you may want to apply the scent jel after you buy the O rings and not before you put the worm in your pocket (but a baggy works then)LOL Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted March 22, 2019 Super User Posted March 22, 2019 I use both shrink-tube and o-rings, can’t decide what I prefer. I don’t shrink the tubing most of the time due to wind and it still works great. Fyi you can buy shrink tubing with heat-activated glue pre-applied. Quote
Super User FryDog62 Posted March 22, 2019 Super User Posted March 22, 2019 I use shrink tubing now because it’s easier/quicker to put on than O-rings, and it keeps the worm intact longer. No need to glue it in place, hook should go right through the tube and middle of the worm and stay put.. Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted March 23, 2019 Super User Posted March 23, 2019 I like the o-rings. The correct size is 3/8 o.d. by 1/4 i.d. Quote
Super User Darren. Posted March 23, 2019 Super User Posted March 23, 2019 I've found that I've had a few worms split in half even with shrink tubing in place... pretty much just use plain worm these days, sometimes shrink wrap. Quote

Super User Sam Posted March 24, 2019 Super User Posted March 24, 2019 I use the shrink tape method. Have found that the tape will come loose during the day. Also noticed that the Senko or finesse/trick worm can be torn or thrown from your shrink tape, leaving you with a bare hook and the shrink tape. I smear MegaStrike or add JJ's Magic to all plastics when getting ready to throw the bait. I have caught 10 bass on one Senko using the shrink tape method. Quote
