Otter17 Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 I am buying a package online for small river/stream smallmouth fishing. Which size would you guys most recommend? 3 1/4” - 1/2oz. or 3 5/8” - 3/4oz. Thanks much! 2 Quote
J.Vincent Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 That's a good looking Goby imitator....of the 2 weight options in a stream like system....I would pick the smaller 1/2 oz, and if they had 1/4oz I would get those also. Good luck 1 Quote
Super User Spankey Posted March 16, 2019 Super User Posted March 16, 2019 That's a nice looking jigging/swimbait. Good luck with it. Give us an report when you field test it. I'd also do the 1/2 oz. but would wish it came smaller also. I use something similar but they are called stone cats, they are productive. 1 Quote
Junk Fisherman Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 I ordered some too thanks to this thread. 1 Quote

Hollada Posted March 22, 2019 Posted March 22, 2019 Looks good, but probably no better than a tube. Definitely more expensive.... 1 Quote
22RangerZ520R Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 I did well on Joe Balog's Goby Replica on LSC. They're no longer made and I lost my last one to a toothy critter a couple years ago up there..... I haven't tried the LiveTarget one yet, I've got some and plan on giving them a shot this year when I go up to LSC. To the OP, I'd definitely go with the 1/2oz for small stream/river. Quote
Otter17 Posted March 23, 2019 Author Posted March 23, 2019 Thankyou very much for that 1/2oz. Recommendation! ?? Quote
Super User Spankey Posted March 23, 2019 Super User Posted March 23, 2019 Go to Case Plastics and look up Mad Toms. Mad Toms and Stone Cats are the same to me. I believe I have some still from Gitzit also. Maybe not quite so realistic as your goby but productive. Quote

Otter17 Posted April 2, 2019 Author Posted April 2, 2019 Ended up purchasing these Jewel Bait Sculpins off Tackle Warehouse. I actually like them more than the live Target goby’s. These look MUCH more like the color of the Sculpins in my river. I really look forward to scooting these past rocks! Quote
Super User Spankey Posted April 9, 2019 Super User Posted April 9, 2019 GREAT! Will probably be more productive and cheaper. Im not dissing LiveTarget, the tru to life thing is pretty cool in its own way but I’m not overly impressed. I really don’t think from my experience with tru to life baits that they work any better. Actually the opposite. My best example is with the Rapala tru life patterns. I’m a Rapala freak big time. When they first came out with the tru image on their crankbaits I was dying to get my hands on the live image bluegill and pumpkinseed. One of my favorite river patterns then and now and always will be is the original bluegill. Those live image couldn’t hold a candle to the original. If anything it seems to work well in real clear water conditions to catch channel catfish. I had to have the live smallmouth bass in an SR07 and SR08 that is all they seem to produce is catties. This situation is how it has worked for me. I’m sure others have had flip side results. LiveTarget makes some very impressive stuff for sure. Their crankbait craw patterns look like a killer but I’m reluctant to pay what they want only to be dissatisfied. Quote
