I’m picking one of these up from the Classic Sale at TW, I was just curious if anyone has any experience with these?

might be too small for my liking.

I like my reels like the phones in Zoolander.

Comparable to 2500 size?

The spool is shallow, but I’m hoping the overall size of the reel is the same as their other lines. Having to spook up less line won’t bother me, but if the reel is entirely undersized I may look for other options. Either way I’ll update everyone once it’s in on Wednesday in case anyone else is looking at them on Tackle Warehouse

That's what I understand it to be. Would be perfect size for most applications. I'd get one at that price except that I've got too much now.

Well these don’t appear to be on TW anymore but I’ll still give a review. It ‘s a normal 2500 size for Daiwa, so it is a standard size reel for bass. What I do like about it though is that it has a shallow spool similar to a lot of the newer finesse baitcast reels. Even though that won’t help with casting distance on a spinning reel, I’m happy I don’t have to spool as much line.

It it feels incredibly smooth and honestly it would be worth every bit of the original retail price IMO. I’m excited to get this reel out on the water this coming weekend.

How bout an update? How do you like it? I picked one up at the classic sale and love it. I put 20lb braid on it and it feels fluid and connected at all times. It is a shallow spool, so if my 11 year old uses it, I run the risk of having to cut out enough line to render it inoperable for the day. So far my solution has been to not share. I don’t have any experience with Daiwa’s mid range spinning reels as of late, but my assumption is that it falls somewhere between the USDM Tatula and ballistic, but shallow spool. The drag is on the light side, but that’s a non-factor for my use. I also picked up a Damiki 7’ML-XFast on the same sale. Those rods were originally listed around the $200 mark, but picked it up for about $50 for the classic sale. The rod, I really enjoy. It seems to be your run of the mill high Modulus stick with no finish. Has solid Fuji guides and a cheapish foam handle. It’s nowhere near worth $200, but better than any $70 (current TW price) stick I’ve used. It also looks like Damiki may be out of the rod business, so the strong warranty listed on tw’s site is probably not perusable should I need it. I was truly shocked how fast and lively the blank felt initially. I have found that my new favorite application is flinging little keitech paddletails unweighted, and skipping them under trees and lay downs to hook up to little bull bass on beds. Fun for days.  I kinda want more. Lol.

I’m really enjoying mine so far as well. I still have plenty of line on the spool to cast with even with the shallow spool. From my experience, the MSRP was pretty spot on as far as placement in Daiwa’s line up. It’s been a great reel so far and it feels like one that’s going to last. It’s definitely high quality

How are these reels holding up? I ordered one from Plat for $98 and I'm waiting for it to show up. Just curious if everyone is still liking these.

I have never used Platt and their shipping options unfamiliar to me.  Which option is best?  Cost and Speed?  Any Ideas.  I normally buy from Digitaka and it takes only a few days and its included.  Need to learn more about Platt shipping.
