Bearsfan67205 Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 I have been looking for another bait casting reel to add to my inventory. I noticed that Kast King makes some bait casters that are color coded according to gear ratios...........sweet someone is as OCD as me lol!! My question is are these reels on par with 13 fishing or phlueger products or are these entry level reels that don't last. Thanks!!!!! Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted March 15, 2019 Super User Posted March 15, 2019 Do a forum search. There is a lot of information around here. In general they seem to be fine from the reviews. Quote
Pikeman12 Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 I only have their sharky III 3000 spinning reel. Its a smooth reel. I've had no problems with it and i was using it on a smaller catfish setup in the mud. Works great to this day, no problems. Their baitcasters I haven't tried. There seem to be certain models that give you longevity and certain models that start making a ton of noise after a few uses. I hear a lot of good things about their round catfish reel, the Rover. Maybe some guys here can give comparisons between their kastkings and other similar priced reels like the president, black maxx,bps,etc... Quote
ike8120 Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 I have a Sharky lll 2000, I haven't tested it yet. Seems like a very nice reel. Others on the site have them and say they are very good. Probably will mate it a Dobyns Fury 734C Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted March 15, 2019 Super User Posted March 15, 2019 The color coded baitcast models are the Royal Legend Elite and the Megajaws. They are not entry level Kastking reels as those would be the Royal Legend and Spartacus. I find Kastking reels to look and perform higher than their price point would have you believe. Try and get them when they on sale as their are better options at their full retail value. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 17, 2019 Global Moderator Posted March 17, 2019 I have one of the blue Megajaws on my jerkbait rod. It's been a very nice reel so far. It's very smooth and cast great. My buddy that I was fishing with Thursday commented about how far I could cast my jerkbait and I think it really hurt his feelings when I told him it was a KK reel that was outcasting his Tatula. I've got a red Royal Legend Elite I use for ploppers and spooks too that's been just as nice and a little smaller than the Megajaws. 1 Quote
