Good bass spinning reel for up to 150 dollars

I am just asking for some input.I have a st Croix premier spinning rod 6ft 2 pieces medium action. I am looking for a new reel this season,willing to spend up to 150 dollars. I am looking for a reel with proper care and maintenance that will last a few years

I have lews speed spins. Had them going on three years now. I haven’t had a bit of trouble with them, drag has worked perfect every time. I have them paired on St Croix LTB, an abu Ike dropshot and 13 fishing envy and they work perfect.

Shimano Ultegara if you want to max your budget, or the Daiwa Fuego if you don't. Both great reels that so far have been performing well.

With a 6' rod, id go with a 1000 series shimano. Whichever one fits your budget. I still have my shimano reels from 15 years ago and they get fished regularly.

2000 series Fuego LT.  That's well under your budget and a great reel.

Tatula LT3000 CHX. This is the shallow spool version. It holds more line than you'd ever cast out. The larger diameter spool will deal with line management issues a little better than the smaller ones do, especially with flouro or mono. The reel is feather light and super smooth. The drag is excellent. I've put a full season on mine and it feels just as good as new. My buddy just got his second one for his new Ardito travel rod. We both fish alot. I expect this reel to last a long time with proper maintenance. 

 

You can find them for close to your target budget. There are plenty of fine reels out there. This reel is in cream of the crop territory at the price point.

I have had some Okuma Spinning reels for years, excellent.  Don't forget Pfluger President reels!  They are a great reel for the money.

Any reel in the price range you're looking at will last almost indefinitely if treated right.  I would go with a 2500 or 3000 size, and Daiwa is making some awfully good stuff these days.  Pfluegers are very smooth but their geometry seems different than Daiwa and Shimano, which fit me nicely.  Don't hesitate to use Ebay if you stick with sellers with 99+% positive ratings.

 

Treated right = keeping it clean, out of the dirt and sand, don't submerge it, close the bail manually at least most of the time, lightly oil it now and then, clean and grease the gears every couple years or so depending on how much it's used. Leave the drag off over the winter or other long periods of non-use.

If you opt for the Shimano Ultegra 1000, check the for flea market forum later today - later tonight I'll post my ULT1000HGFB that I bought last year and it's probably seen no more than 50 casts, if even that. I had it paired with a travel rod which I sold to a forum member because I barely used it. Reel is in top condition. I'll figure out price (will save you some $) but will save that for the approprite forum.

My spinning reel experience is limited to Pfleuger Presidents and Daiwa BGs.  (Unless you count a 40-year-old Mitchell 300!) They have both performed flawlessly for me.  I prefer the BG only because, for me, the design makes it easier for me to feather my casts.  I do suggest that, if possible, you take your rod to a store carrying your choice(s) and mount the reel(s).  It’s the only way I know to at least check balance, weight (although without a full spool ya don’t get it perfect), and “feel”. (Ya owe me $.02 for this input.)

 

Oh, a final thought: I happen to prefer a spinning reel with a reverse, but that is purely a personal choice.

I use 1000 size Stradics, but out of your budget for brand new.

 

Daiwa's new LT reels are getting rave reviews online, sizing is

great, as well, they're smaller form factor than previous gen

models. If i were in the market today I'd take a very hard look

at the LT models.

 

Also used Daiwa and Pflueger. I'd rank Daiwa and Shimano as

best, Pflueger is a good value, but as said above, geometry is

a little different.

What type of fishing do you normally use this 6'2" M 2 PC rod for and line type-lb test?

nothing wrong spending 150 dollars on a reel .... but before you do that you might want to check out kastking spinning reels ... highly rated on amazon.... get 2 to 3 reels for 150 ... or just get one and save some money for other bassin' needs ...

Thanks everyone for your input, I am going to follow a fellow members advice and take my rod to the bait and tackle shop and try different reels and pick the one that I feel best with. I have had bad luck in the last 5 years with spinning reels. First was the ardent spinning reels.The first one was good(s-400m) but the newer made in USA models had various issues.I am putting them on ebay and getting what I can get for them.Then I bought a shimano symetre 2500 fl,it did not last then shimano discontinued it.I am reading the various comments and they are available at my bait and tackle shop. again thanks

I use it for bass fishing and also bait fishing(Hook and bobber anything panfish,bass perch ect. I put 10lb test mono on my reel when I use it.It is rated for 6 to 12 lb test mono,1/4 to 5/8 ounce lures

The reason I ask about the rod is 2 piece 6'2" Medium power rods are rarely used anymore for bass fishing unless it's a travel rod. The line question determines the reel size, you should try to stay at .010 diameter or 8 lb test line max with smaller size spinning reels do to line memory problems.

Your 2 piece rod may have a Ferrell inbetween the large 1st guide close to the reel and the 2 nd guide (?), this puts the 1st guide nearer to the reel then a 1 piece rod. 

The ideal spinning reel size would be 1000 or 1500, smaller spool diameter equals smaller size line coils trying to go through the 1st guide and balance better with the shorter length rod. 

Take a look at Sunlne Super Natural mono line or Trilene XL.

Daiwa TD SS 1300 or 1600 is a older reel design still popular, has a manual bail design with long spool and bullet proof reel.

Shimano has a few options in your price range.

To keep within my budget I purchased a KastKing Sharky lll , seems to be a very nice reel and well under your 150 limit.

 

There are folks on this site that love this reel.
