WRangler506 Posted March 11, 2019 Posted March 11, 2019 So I did something really dumb in my garage comparing a few of my new casting rods..... I broke the last guide on my new Aetos casting rod. I bent it pretty good and then when trying to straighten it I could hear that it wasnt solid anymore, and one side is of the small mount wires is broken, and the main connection in the center is broken also. The break is contained to the guide, but the whole guide will need to be replaced. Is this something I can fix myself, or take it somewhere here in SE Michigan? If good parts are available, Im sure I can learn how, but not sure if an Aetos if the right rod to practice on. Advice? Quote

You can fix it yourself but if it were me, I'd Google the nearest rod repair shop and pay them 15 bucks to do it. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 11, 2019 Global Moderator Posted March 11, 2019 It's a pretty easy fix. If you can find out the type and size of guide they use, I'd do that and order the exact replacement. If you're not confident in your ability, pay someone a couple bucks to do it. Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted March 11, 2019 Super User Posted March 11, 2019 Typically the tips are attached with a glue so a little heat will loosen it and you can take it right off with a pair of pliers. When you get it off replace it with glue that will come loose with heat. If you have an archery shop in your area you can get some hide glue. It works great for this application. Quote
WRangler506 Posted March 11, 2019 Author Posted March 11, 2019 I found a place to repair it near me, they use Fuji guides. I know Ive heard of Fuji guides, but what level rods do these normally come on? Are these equal to what comes on an Aetos or Avid or similar? Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted March 11, 2019 Posted March 11, 2019 I think we talked on the phone. Anyway Fuji is a brand with offerings across the spectrum. No worries 1 Quote

No worries Yes and thanks for the help. I'm debating taking it in or just order and learn myself. Id like to learn myself like I do with most things, seems like the way to go with just a tip guide. THanks again for your help!! Quote
