The new Tatula has different reel seat, and the trigger seems to tilt slightly further forward, which to me makes it more comfortable.  Why micro guides?!? Why?!?

What do you have against them?

Just that they don't play well with leader knots.  The guides on the new Tatula will clear an FG knot, but just a little too close for comfort.  The OG Tatula had perfect guides IMO

What is the rod being used for? What kind of water do you fish?

I am going to use the rod as a jig and worm rod and I fish ponds and small lakes with some vegetation

Of the group OP listed, Tatula is easily best IMO.  As balanced as the Dobyns, but lighter and easily more sensitive.  In terms of sensitivity, I would take the Tat over my Dobyns Champ Extreme HP.

sounds like a good rod but does braid to leader work with the guides

Do you mean the new tatula?  I had the 72 mh OG and thought it was a bit tip heavy.

You gotta go hold whichever ones you are considering.

I loved my new Dobyns Fury until I then bought a Mojo Bass. Both are great but something about that Mojo Bass feels better to me.

I'm like LionHeart in that I prefer regular guides over the true micros although for me it is a matter of aesthetics.  The tiny guides look ugly.  I don't really care that a micro guide weighs .0005 oz. less than a standard guide.  :teeth:  Some guides are an in between size....like on ALX rods.  I don't mind that size.  I am not a leader type of guy with the occasional exceptions.  Like on my 5# braid.

New, and yes leader knots go thru the guides well enough.  Mojo (or any SC rod for that matter) in MH or H most tip heavy rod I (used to) own.

I agree on SC, I just sent back a Bass X due to its horrible balance.

I agree.  Every time I felt one, the weight is the first thing I noticed.

Cant speak about the daiwa. But have owned Dobyns Furys and Champions as well as Mojos. For the price a Dobyns is hard to beat and I doubt you will find another company with a better warranty program or customer service

Bassproshop carbonlite 2.0 are great rods at their price point that people seem to overlook a lot.  Another great rod that gets overlooked a lot of times in the same price point are the Okuma EVX rods.  Both great rods in the 120 price range.  I love the Duckett micro magic pro rods.  To me they are one of the best performing best filling rods in the 160 price range.  I will say though.  Duckett seems to have quality control problems, but their warranties are good.  The St Croix premier rods, and Dobyns Fury rods are also really good rods.  You will always get quality with St Croix.  They never seem to miss.  At least in my opinion they dont.

I have an Okuma evx spinning rod and I like it, how does the Okuma stack up against others in it's price range

........ I personally own the st croix mojo bass rods. I like them a lot. The spinning rods are garbage

Both the casting and spinning rods use the same blanks. Same guides, (different sizes). Same warranties. What makes one good and the other garbage?  Garbage, means the rods are unusable. Why are the spinning rods worthless?

I think Okuma puts out the best quality blanks in the 100-120 price catagory.  The EVX has no obvious seems visible, no runny resin.  Though the EVX 30 ton graphite blank is slightly heavier some of the competitors rods, like the the Shimano exage, its a very well balanced rod.  Pair it with a slightly lighter reel and you have a combo that you can fish comfortable all day.  The Duckett Ghost is by far the most sensitive rod I have used in this price catagory, but the build quality doesn't compare to that of the Okuma.  I think the closest competitor to the EVX out of all the rods I have used in this catagory would be the Dobyns Fury.  In fact I would have a hard time choosing between the 2.  Wish I could compare it to the St Croix bass X rods, because I am a huge fan of St Croix, but I haven't personally gotten to use one yet.  All I know about them is what other people have said.

Honestly it will all come down to what you are looking for in a rod, because you are not going to get everything in a 100-120 rod.  So depending on what the most important attributes to you are in the particular rod you are looking for.  Opinions will vary.  All I can say is that the okuma EVX seems to get overlooked, but its a great rod and well worth the money.

I read that the Fenwick HMG has Fuji alconite guides. I don’t have experience with either rod though.

what do you guys think of the Powell endurance

I’m a really big fan. I have a 6’8 MH and love it, it’s a great quality rod with good sensitivity. I held the larger size rods as well from them and they were all light
