Super User J Francho Posted March 6, 2019 Super User Posted March 6, 2019 OK my western PA peeps, this New Yorker will be invading your waters. I'll be staying at Dewdrop camp. Looks like Dewdrop Run itself is pretty good, but a mile south is Elijah Run, and is loaded with added cover. I'll be kayak fishing this trip. Any tips? I'm not exclusively talking bass, either. I'm willing to sacrifice some swimbaits to a musky. Quote
Super User TOXIC Posted March 7, 2019 Super User Posted March 7, 2019 Let me know if you ever get just a tad more South. The Potomac is calling your name. 1 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 7, 2019 Author Super User Posted March 7, 2019 I'll be in DC in June, but I don't think I'll have any time to fish. Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted March 7, 2019 Super User Posted March 7, 2019 I haven't been to the Allegheny Res/Kinzua Dam since I was a teenager. We used to catch a fair amount of walleyes there too. From what I remember, be careful that you don't cross into the Indian Reservation waters and get caught. It's a hefty fine from my memory. I know in the past years, they've been drawing the lake down a fair bit at random times, so keep an eye on the water levels prior to your trip. Quote

Google up “DC Tidal Baisn Fishing”. It’s right downtown and has a bit of everything in it. It’s a cool spot to fish right among all the monuments. Quote
Junger Posted March 7, 2019 Posted March 7, 2019 The tidal basin is so much fun....if you catch a biggun you'll have about 50 tourists come up for a photo op with you. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 7, 2019 Author Super User Posted March 7, 2019 Not sure I'll have time to get away in DC. I'm going there to see Jawbox reunion show. The drummer, Zach, is a good friend. Quote

I can't find anything about this either. I know two reservation townships were relocated to Upstate (Thanks PBS, lol), but I don't anything about restricted water. Quote

Some gas stations and grocery stores are allowed to sell you two six packs per day now. Otherwise, you're having to go to a beer distributor. And then liquor is sold in state stores where you can only buy liquors. I'll talk to my buddy. I know his club has had a tournament up there the last two falls. I want to say they still have some Indian waters on the NY side of things there. Quote

My first night on vacation there I went on a wild goose chase to get some beer and whiskey. Gas station was a no go. Supermarket would only sell me 2 six packs and the liquor part of the supermarket closed before I got there. Some resteraunts will sell you a six pack to go after you eat there. I found that so strange until I realized you can’t buy beer in the Walmart there ? Quote

If you grew up in PA its just what it is. I remember on the day I got my driver learner permit driving up to the beer distributer and getting a case of beer for my dad. Ah the good old days. 1 Quote

Same shock I had last year visiting Indiana and learning that I can buy a bottle of Jack Daniels in a Walmart! Crazy laws from state to state... 1 Quote
