You get what you pay for.   I have a tackle box full of LC for I like them and I use them and they work for me.    I also have several Evergreen and some special tackle which is more expensive  than LuckyCraft.   I don't think LC are expensive when you are using a rod which cost $250.00 and a reel which cost $265.00.

I just purchase a Bass Boat and when I get it rigged like I want LC are going to be  cheapest  thing in it..

i have and will continue to use LC lures. i have about 25 and don't feel like i have wasted money on any of them. i also just purchased my 1st megabass lure (dog x or whatever it's called). the larger walk the dog bait. i've only had a chance to play with it so far but the action seems nice. about the rapala lures being expensive in japan....that has to do with many issues. availability, taxes and tariffs play a major role.

I thought of the Rapala Lures again, and came up with an interesting point... We also have a lot of Bomber cranks and Traps around, but they only cost about 5$..... What's up with Rapala?  ;)

That's the reason I only have 2 Rapala's in my tacklebox..... Too expensive..... I'd go with LC or Evergreen anyday!

BTW, The baitmonkey justifies my purchases ;)

i think its much like the famous art vs. unknown art...like picasso--picasso could have drawn a circle with a pencil and people would pay a lot for it just because it is a picasso. and i could do that and people would look at me like i am stupid.

The lure has to look good to you, before you will get good results with it.If not, you will never fish it.I only have one Lucky Craft Pointer that I will not fish. It was a christmas gift from my mother, she passed away shortly before christmas got here that year.If you think Lucky Craft are too expensive to use, don't buy them. As long as you never fish them, you'll never know what your missing. ;DIvan

People have differing viewpoints on this subject and they always will.  If Lucky Craft ------ through its marketing efforts, production methods, and the perceived quality of its product ------------- is able to sell enough of these lures to make a handsome profit, then the lures are worth it from a business standpoint.  As for each individual, the answer is up to you.

To me LCs are another option I try because I fish ultra clear Bull Shoals. Any edge to beat these PH. D educated bass is at the right price considering what the rest of my tackle box is filled with costs. I also have some custom hand painted lures specific for my lake also. Sometimes they slay everything else in the box and then again, they get beat. In the end, it just all comes down to what looks good to the bass on that day, under those conditions, in the mood they are in. I think of it kind of like trying to please my wife, I just keep trying different things till I see a positive reaction.

The pointers and topwaters are worth it to me. Now the crankbaits do work but not as good as a Bandit.

Kents right, Lucky Craft has droped their prices.. lures that use to be 20 dollars are now 15 and 25 dollar lures are now 20. You can get the Rick Clunn Lucky Craft crankbaits for $9.99 at BPS online. They have droped their prices by 25%. Some are saying lures are just getting higher and higher, well, its not just lures (or even just Lucky Crafts lures for that matter) everything has, is, and will always be getting more expensive as the years go by. Their Sammys, Live-Pointers, Pointers, LVRs, and RC series crankbaits are worth every penny to me. I dont know about the rest though. Some will say others are worth the money like the Stacey for example which I hate and will never buy again but others will/do. Whats worth it to me may not be worth it to you and vice versa. "One mans trash is another mans treasure" could apply here.

I just watched a DVR'd FLW outdoors event on Lake of the Ozarks, and Clark Wendlant took third place, with nearly all his fish caught on a Lucky Craft BDS 3 in old Tennessee shad.  Clark is not sponsored by Lucky Craft, but when $100k is on the line, $15 for a crankbait doesn't seem like all that much.  I'm actually glad Lucky Crafts are expensive, because this means not all anglers will buy them, and I think it gives me an edge.

Like RW has posted, I try to buy mine on sale at either at BPS as an in-store-special, or at a friends shop, and every once and a while I can get a steal on ebay but rarely. I did pick up my four LC Slinder Pointers for a grand total of $24 but those prices are like panning for gold nuggets. I have been able by being patient to get most of my Lucky Crafts at between $9.00 and $11.00. That is not cheap but better than $15 to $20 as each little bit helps to maybe buy more than one.

Ok, let me start this post by saying this: I own 3 Sammy's but have not used them yet (instore BPS special of $6.99 each).  I still feel that I should become a better fisherman by using 'more common' lures before stepping up to the plate with LC's due to the fact that I am just now getting into largemouth. However, knowing me, it is only a matter of time before I take the plunge.

One reservation I have is this:

Stemming from posts specific to lipless crankbaits, I have read many posts that claim that members feel that the increased success of the Yo-Zuri's, LC, etc lipless baits is simply due to the fact that it is something (slightly different color, sound, shape, etc) new to bass as opposed to everybody and their brother throwing the standard issue Rat-L-Trap.  Now, I firmly agree that there is a higher level of quality with the LC baits, however, how much LC success do you guys feel is attributed to the fact that not everyone is throwing them? Maybe I am off base here, but I think it is safe to say that even on highly pressured waters, only a small percentage of anglers are throwing LC baits.

thoughts?

I definitely think that is a factor, and I'll take an advantage any way I can get one  ;)

A couple of months ago BPS actually had several baits on sale online for $6.88.  I purchased 6 slender pointers in matte pumpkin(these are $18.99 biats!), 4 Sammys in Archer Bee, 4 Sammys in Ghost Minnow, and 4 LVR D10's in Matte Tiger.  That was probably the best bargain I have ever found online.  I'm having several of the Sammys in Archer Bee repainted, but the other colors were bueno.  Backwaters has a bunch of L/C's on sale right now for $10, so I pretty much never pay any more than around $10 unless I am running low on Moonsaults (which I am  ;)).
