92 5 oh Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 I'm curious to see what other things people have made for their boats. Other than decks. I've seen some pretty neat things, if theres anything neat you've made lets see em. cup holders, consoles, anchors, lights/lighting, bimini tops ect. anything. ;D Quote
_tyler_wright_ Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 I made a trolling motor bracket and a swith console with cup holders in them. Quote
92 5 oh Posted April 20, 2008 Author Posted April 20, 2008 that looks good. i really like the deck and storage space. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted April 20, 2008 Super User Posted April 20, 2008 I once turned the lid around on my livewell so my wife could pee into it easier. I'm not kidding either. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted April 21, 2008 Super User Posted April 21, 2008 My boat is a 1990 17' aluminum tracker. The following is a short list of the improvements I have made since I bought it last summer. Discarded the old metal gas tanks and installed a permanent 16gal plastic tank with external fill-neck and vent. Added fuel gauge to console. Replaced fuel hoses and bulb. Added fuel filter. Installed Dual-Pro charger with external power plug. Installed automatic bilge pump and replaced live-well pumps. Converted live well to combination live well and ice chest by adding 1 & 1/2" of foam insulation to top, bottom and sides. Replaced inaccessible blade-type fuse panel with accessible bayonet-type fuse panel. Replaced awkward trailer tie-down straps with spring-loaded "BoatBuckles." Replaced incandescent trailer lights with LEDs. Installed AM/FM radio/CD player in console along with four speakers in bulkheads. Installed a light in the aft compartment where batteries and fuel tank are located. Installed dedicated wiring for the console mounted GPS/Sonar unit so that it remains powered at all times. Replaced cracked console wind screen with new, custom-made one. Repaired numerous leaky rivets. Other than the above, I haven't done much to the boat. Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted April 21, 2008 Super User Posted April 21, 2008 I once turned the lid around on my livewell so my wife could pee into it easier. I'm not kidding either. lol.............i thought i had the only wife who did that. i would have never admitted it though without someone else bringing it up.. i think it was long mike who made the crate with the rod holders/depth finder all in one. he should patten that thing. Super User Long Mike Posted April 21, 2008 Super User Posted April 21, 2008 Skunked Again, I plead guilty on the crate thing. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted April 21, 2008 Super User Posted April 21, 2008 I installed a wet bar in one of the rod lockers, a 23" LCD flat screen in the other and converted the live well into a foot massager. Quote
fatmanslim247 Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 Long mikes boat is AWESOME! Hopefully my boat will have half as many things as his does, plus the cooler in the livewell is pretty sweet. Quote
fishmastersunv Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 1983 17 Ft Lund tyee 5.3 When screaming across the lake, if it is wavy, there aren't any handles to hold on to.. People used to hold on to the bottom of the seat and maybe the dash, .... Went to the junkyard and unscrewed some interior handles from and explorer, color matched interior, hard strong handles.. Screwed on the inside of hte boat for people to hold onto! Quote
Popeye Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 As soon as I got my ProCraft I made two PVC rocket launcher style standup rod holders, one 2 rod holder and one 3 rod holder. They work great. Quote
Super User Team9nine Posted May 5, 2008 Super User Posted May 5, 2008 I've made a lot of enhancements to my custom jon boat, many are "standard" add-ons like livewell, bilge and recirc pumps, troll motor brackets, storage space, light holders, etc. My favorite though has been this "command center" that I added: Carpeted lid flush with the back deck acts as an extension of the rear deck. Tackle racks made of aluminum L-angle hold 4 Plano 3600's and 2 Plano 3700's. Cabela's lighted rocker panel switch has been installed and hooked up to running lights, livewell, bilge pump and recirc pump. Black round cap on top is covering the onboard charger plug - just uncap, plug in extension cord and go after every trip! Also have a 12V power outlet added just right of rocker panel for accessories. -T9 Quote
2000WHITEGMC Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 besides adding onto the deck I installed a new tilt & trim unit on my Tracker Quote
