Best way to bring partial bags of soft plastics?

I do a lot of bank and kayak fishing which means space is at a premium.  I'm also constantly trying to expand my horizons to new baits while keeping some go to stuff in my bag. It also drives me nuts when I don't have color that I want to throw. For example, I just picked up some BPS stik-os in two sizes and 4 different colors which come in a 16 pack.  I would like to take 4-5 of each color with me but taking the whole bags would be half my soft plastic space.

 

I was wondering if anyone had a solution for storing partial bags of soft plastics. I don't want to use hard boxes and I read that Ziploc bags can leech oil into your baits (from the Strike King designer on this forum.) Does anyone sell smallish bags that I could use for this? Or have a better solution?

I haven't had problems with ziploc, but an alternative option is to get laminated lure bags from Do It Molds, which are made specifically to hold soft plastics:

I use (and re-use) these in 6x4 and 7x4 sizes all the time to combine multiple partial bags, or to standardize the sizes of packs I have to rummage through. 6x4s will fit in two lines in a Plano 3731, and 7x4s will fit a large size KVD speed bag in two lines.

I usually just use one of the original plastic bags; Pack 3-4 each of the plastics and colors in the bag that I plan to use and head out. I use a ridiculously small kindergartener's back pack that I commandeered from my son that holds two 3600 boxes with all my terminal and hardbaits and to be honest I definitely feel over packed most of the time.

I just throw several colors in an old worm bag. The only problems I've ever had is with red colors bleeding. I put them in separate bag.

I have a small soft tackle bag from BPS that should work. I think it has 10 bags in it. I use mine for storing jigs and trailers in it. You could store 20 bags of soft plastics in it if they are the smaller bags. Large bags like Ol Monster worms would not fit very good.

The freezer strength zip lock bags work better for me than the regular zip locks.  As far as I know, the smallest size is the quart size.  Still, that solves the issue of just taking a few baits of each size & color & they won't bleed into each other.  It is the constant dilemma of bringing too much or not enough of any particular piece of fishing gear.  I fish out of an 18' tackle box so I tend to err on the bringing too much stuff side.

Don't understand the comment on zip lock bags.  I have had extra plastics of all kinds in zip lock bags for years and they are just fine.  Some are soaking in a scent

My girlfriend actually made me a couple of Tackle binders after I almost spent $20 on the Berkley one at Dicks a few years ago...I now have 2 size freezer bags with the quality zip lock, and I have 10 bags with a grommet in the corner and then a carabena? Clip that attaches to my belt. When fishing on a Kayak, shore or anywhere, I keep my top soft baits seperated only by color or shade since I only throw a few.

 

I will usually mix Black/Blue with Junebug, Watermelon with Green pumpkin, and just seperate by Grubs/Trailers, Flukes/Stick worms, big worms, finesse, flipping baits etc...

 

I use Black, Purple, Green Pumpkin and watermelons 99% of the time, then white for swimbaits or flukes. Usually I rarely need to grag anything else, If I have a green pumpkin Purple flake, I just dump it in with watermelon Red etc..They may bleed in a day or two, but often the "Swirls" look really good.

 

Junebug and Black and blue mix really well imo, Throw in some green pumpkin and you get good natural looking swirls which are uneven which I actually prefer.

 

It actually works really well as a way to have quick access without carrying too many baits.

Not great for paddletails though.

Ive been using these bags for sometime now. I have 3x3 (hooks&weight), 5x3(4to5"stuff). The 4or5x8 i use for storage of Original Zipper Shaking worms,before Case too over. I have over 900 of each color they made,and the original bags were just stapled shut.

One thing to note- the size of the bag,is the actual usable area.

Also i have not had any leakage,or moisture issues with the terminal tackle.
