I don't know.  I'd lean towards M/XF, but that's baitcasting vs. spinning.  I get a better feel for my line and rod with bait casting, but YMMV.

Oh, I didn't realize your M/XF was a casting rod.  I have an Avid M/XF casting rod but don't know if their casting and spinning rods are 1:1 in terms of power and taper.

There's not much better than a G. Loomis GLX 842c paired with a Metanium MGL spooled with Daiwa J Braid in chartreuse.

Trying to save up for a Conquest 842s and already pulled the trigger on an Stradic CI4+ 3000. Maybe this set up will be the ultimate senko rod in the future, but for now, the GLX and Metanium are more than enough.

I don't either.

I can tell you that the 6' 10" Legend Xtreme MLXF will let you know if bass 4 feet from your Senko bats an eyelash at the bait...

Well I'm getting ready to replace my 802s with a St. Croix 68MXF either in Avid X or Legend Tournament. I own several regular Avids but have never handled the X. So, is it worth the extra $50 to upgrade to the Legend Tournament over the X?

As far as reels go, I plan to probably pair the rod with a Stradic Ci4+ 2500. How does that reel balance with the 68 St. Croix? Are there better options regarding reel or size?

I know when I had my avid 7'0 with a 2500 ci4+ balance was near PERFECT. I personnaly do not think the tournament is a big upgrade from the avid. But the Xtremes... oh boy, different animal ;)

I use a nrx 803s with a Stradic  ci4+,I like it as it has some balls to pull fish away and out of cover as senkos are not always a finesse technique for me.

Kinda like that idea! Does it balance out well? Thinking of getting at least a 7'+

It balances well. And you have the right idea to get a 7’ plus length. That’s the only thing I wish was to get something slightly longer like the 852s

Hey guys.

Here is my final debate, hesitating between, the NRX, conquest, or st croix legend xtreme all either 7 or 7'6" as a medium fast. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I like long rods, but they sacrifice accuracy.

What is important to you?

I already have a skipping rod for close quarter docks and weed patches, this one should be more of an open water rod but I am leaning more towards the 7 footer in case I do closer prescise stuff.

So why don’t you cut it in the middle and try the nrx 872s? 7’3” medium extra fast. Kind of in between the two

Sounds like a great option, but whats better between nrx conquest or xtreme?

That's going to be a Ford/Chevy argument.

The real answer is "neither", the question you should be asking is, "Which do I like best?"

There is no "best" here, and the only person you have to please is yourself.

I'm digging this one up from the grave hoping to one, get some recommendations and two because I'm stuck inside and about to go crazy.

After this thread I ended up selling an older Loomis GL2 802S and replacing it with an Avid X 68 M/XF.

While the Avid is a great rod and I've caught tons of Senko fish with it I just can't get over the reel seat. It hurts my hand after a short amount of time.

I've also upgraded several of my casting rods to NRX's so I've been bitten by the bug. I'm trying to decide between the NRX 802s and the 803s. I prefer a shorter rod when it comes to spinning and fishing Senkos so pretty seat on either of those two.

I fish mainly smaller creeks/rivers and lakes with submerged timber and stickups so leaning towards the 803s.

I do occasionally fish a larger reservoir with a mix of rocky banks and open water.

I'm only going to be buying one and it's a Senko specific rod, both weightless texas rigged and wacky rigged. Rod will be paired with a Stradic Ci4+ 2500 and 6lb YZH.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Have you ever used an 802s? If so how would you compare?

For wacky/neko rigs with a smaller lighter hook I will throw them on my e6x 852s jwr. It’s a great rod but I wish I would have spent a little more on an expride or saved money and gone with an avid because I don’t feel like it’s worth the $220 or 230 I paid for it. Either way it is a perfect action for this presentation, would have preferred a 7’3-7’6” but it will do for this season. Any Texas rigged senkos I will throw on a casting rod, weightless or weighted. If I’m using a super line ewg hook I will throw it on a dobyns 735c and fish with 65lbs maxcuatro braid to a 20lbs mono leader. If I want to be more subtle I will use a lighter wire hook and throw it on a dobyns 733c, 40lbs maxcuatro braid to a 12-15lbs mono leader. I have also thrown a neko/wacky rig on a medium light but I generally prefer a medium as a senko is pretty heavy and I feel like I’m more accurate with a medium. If I was in your situation I’d get an nrx 852 or an 802 if you like a shorter rod, although I could see getting an 803 as you could probably throw light wire t rigged ones on it too.

Casting distance is everything to me because of the very limited bank area I have to fish.

I can consistently get 120-150’ casts...but I’m wanting to try and reach 180-200’.  I’m currently searching for the “right” 8 to 9’ rod.

My current setups are...

Lews Ti 7.6:1, Lews Ti MF 7’3

65# maxcuatro

20# Sunline leader

4^ EWG

5” senko

BFS tuned Daiwa TDZ, Fenwick MEF 7’6

Ive tried both reels on both rods...the 7’6 outcasts consistently.  The braid makes hooksets a nonissue as well as hauling them through grass.
