Top of the reel? What in sam hill are we even talking about now? I think we have a lot of verbiage going on that we don't understand.

Sorry, top of the spool, like the picture below.

The top of the reel is probably top of line spool. Top could mean the label side of the filler spool or could be the top of the filler spool with a pencil through the center hole like wheel with the line comming off the top. ???

The most reliable way is the pencil through the center hole with the line comming off the top of the filler spool as it spins like a wheel, bait casting reels not laying flat.

So we are back to line twist as the line was spooled onto the reel.

Tom

Sorry, I meant the top of the spool. Like this going on to the reel: FX54R9EHVTLRMU2.MEDIUM.jpg.a0ca4c4650159345b6fe458d6a2d4c77.jpg

If you could post a pic of the 'bumpy' spool it would help tons.  The problem may not be the fishing line at all.  If the line isn't laying evenly on the spool, the first thing that comes to mind would be that you have a mechanical problem with the level wind of the reel.

You heard it here first.

Sorry I was unclear/confusing earlier, the line is even on the spool, but the actual line is bumpy. There's nothing wrong with the level wind of the reel or anything, it's just the line.

Let me get this straight, it's the line that's bumpy?  Just kidding.  It's possible that the mono was exposed to heat or something.  I wouldn't worry to much, but I'd do some break tests.  KVD L&L Conditioner will likely help it, too.

Haha, everybody thought I was saying that it was uneven on the spool so I had to clarify.
