Yes I fish them.

Prefer to buy the 25 packs and make my own weed guards.

Sizes anywhere from #4 to 2/0, with the larger being used on

worms 6" and up. They work fine with 4 and 5" as well.

For me the sweet spot is #1 and 1/0. I primarily throw 4" senkos

wacky rigged.

To be honest, I hate this hook. The weedguard often doesn’t release on the hookset. I’ve lost countless fish because of it. Additionally, that tiny gap between the weedguard and the eye of the hook catches so much grass and debris. The hook itself is a great hook, but with the weedguard, it’s trash.

My favorite weedless wacky hook is the Gamakatsu G-Finesse wacky jig. Yes it’s weighted, and I often prefer a weightless rig, but it is quite weedless compared to other hooks. And the hookup ratio is darn near perfect.

This is really helpful man, thanks.  Weird though.  The hook has got tons of positive reviews everywhere.  But it makes senses what youre saying.

I tried the Lazer Trokar wacky weedless wide gap last season and it did ok.

And im just seeing now that there is a Gamakatsu weightless G-Finesse hook. Must be new. I haven’t tried it, but I just ordered a pack. Looks like just what I’m looking for!

Odd, I have *never* experienced losing a fish on these due to the weedguard.

That said, there is a reason I tie my own, I think they perform better. I'd agree

with you that the "original" guard is not very good. They do get a lot of debris

as well as they can move around after a lot of use.

Yeah.. I was going to say, I don't think I've lost fish due to the weedguard either. I know when I've missed bites and the weedguard didn't release, it is because the fish never had the hook in its mouth to begin with and was only biting on the ends of the worm looking at the bite marks.

These hooks are sticky sharp, strog, and has a good hookup ratio (for me anyways.. maybe because for these hooks I "set the hook" lightly ?). Works well for me so I'll keep using them.

Hugh...That is weird. I had a lot of fish (A LOT OF FISH) come off on this hook. And when I feel it up, the weedguard is caught around the barb. Super wired because I am always careful to set the weedguard just on the point of the hook. I dunno...maybe I set the hook funny ?? Lol!

I dunno either :Idontknow:

But I'm not surprised one thing works for someone but not another.

Got a buddy who swears by bubblegum senkos, trick worms and all

that at HWM. Never caught one on that color myself. So go figger.
