billmac Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 I was just thinking this morning about my first baitcaster, a Diawa Millionaire I purchased almost 40 years ago. Back then (in yankeeland) no one was using baitcasters, but I was a BASS and tournament junkie so I spent a fortune (at the time, $54) for it. A thousand backlashes later, and I knew I'd never go back to spincasting. I see that they actually have a modernized version and it's very tempting. The only thing holding me back is that it takes about a million yards of line to fill it. Anyone use the Millionaire? Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted March 3, 2019 Super User Posted March 3, 2019 The first bc reel my dad owned was a millionaire 5B. His second one was a 5HS which he bought a couple of months later. I remember that 5B being a workhorse. Quote

Super User new2BC4bass Posted March 3, 2019 Super User Posted March 3, 2019 The Ryoga holds less line. Maybe you'd never consider going back to a Millionaire after using one. Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted March 3, 2019 Super User Posted March 3, 2019 They actually make 100 size Millionaires, I think they are JDM only but definitely bass size. They cost a little more than the standard Millionaire though. Quote
billmac Posted March 3, 2019 Author Posted March 3, 2019 I see that I spelled Daiwa wrong. I'll bet I would fall in love with the Ryoga if someone with more money than me gave me one. I don't think I would spend that much money on a reel even if I could afford it. Quote
