I have a 18' 1999 Javelin with a 150 fast strike on it. I can top out at 57, thing is that aint good enough for me I wanna do at least 65, how much work and money is this going to take me what can I do to get some more speed post your ideas and how much it'll cost me.

Note: I do not have a jackplate yet and i know that will increase it some, and I have a stainless steel three blade prop. Thanks for the help.

If you want to pick it up that much it will take some internal engine porting, blueprinting, and balance work. It will help to get a blueprinted prop, balance the load in the boat, jack plate, and lighten the load to pick up several mph. There is no way to pick up that many MPH without some serious dollars.

I really don't think that speed is out of reach with proper set-up, at least you will gain some speed.

Jackplate is a must and I would probably go with an eight inch.

After you get then jackplate on and dialed in so you can get some accurate numbers, the prop will need to be tuned.

Blueprinting the hull might give you a little also.

As for the motor, the exhaust ports on that motor are so restrictive they don't leave much room for big power numbers like you can get from the 3.0 motors. Reliability suffers on those also when modifing them but to answer you question, yes you can get more power but there's not much in the way of bolt on stuff thans gonna give it to you. 200 - 225 hp can be had, but it's going to cost you some hole shot and several thousand dollars.

You can see if Monty does the eagle block, if not he may know someone that does. http://www.montyracing.com/. I'm pretty sure Al Stoker no longer does porting.

My advice is to sell your boat and look for a faster hull with a larger engine. You will be happier in the long run.

another site to check out is screamandfly.com

That site is pretty cool. Its all about racing mods and there is a tech forum.

Check it out.

You can always do like I do, put you a 3.0 on the back that's pumping over 300 hp.  They will push both my Stratos and Javelin R20 into 80's.  I have two 3.0 hotrod motors and a 1/2 dozen power heads I play with when I wanna go fast, and kick some Triton butt.

Yamaha 350 HP Monster Motor

The world's first 350 horsepower outboard motor, a 5.3L four-stroke V-8. Yamaha Marine has introduced the most potent, production outboard motor ever, the F350, a 5.3L, 350 horsepower V-8

Slap on two or three of these and burn gas for all it worth...

What is the actual length? I have an older 379T (17' 9" )with a Faststrike 150 and I get 68.4 mph GPS and all I did was have the engine mounted as high as it would go-I don't have a jack plate. I run a Raker 24". It's a handfull over 60 mph.

If you provide  prop info, RPM, and motor to pad hight you will get a bit more help.

FYI 18' 150 Intruder 65.8  with just prop jackplate and tuning. You can find 6 mph if your motor is in good shape.
