I need experienced recommendations on what G. Loomis model to buy.  I own quite a few rods throughout a wide spectrum of lengths, powers and actions, none of which are G. Loomis brand.

I fish all types of lures and presentations for Bass, but my go-to is an unweighted Texas rigged Senko.

My best current rods are Shimano CruciaIs, which I love.  I am finally ready to drop some money on a G. loomis to be my #1 best primary day to day rod.  I am not sure which one is the best for me.  I know that I want something approximately 7'6" in a medium-heavy with an extra fast action for good hook sets on plastics.  I don't know which grade of G. Loomis will be the best value for my money. The E6x seem like a good rod, but nothing extraordinary to me.  I am willing to drop money on a GLX or better if numerous folks with experience can say what they think will be the most worth it.  I want the most sensitivity and light weight for my money.

Thanks for any advice and recommendations

My suggestion is go for the absolute best you can afford. Over the years I’ve climbed the ladder of fishing rods and reels gradually buying more expensive gear, when in reality, I would have saved myself more money in the long run if I had just bought the best I could afford right at the start.

The GLX series is awesome and wicked sensitive. NRX is supposed to be a slight upgrade in sensitivity, weight, and balance (some will say GLX and NRX are close in sensitivity). I have not fished the Conquest rods. There’s a reason high-end Loomis rods are still the market standard for sensitivity.

check out the glx/nrx 893 and 894!

If you want that long and the 893C GLX would be great.  Personally I don't like a rod that long for soft plastic.  I would prefer, at length, to use it for flipping.  The 853C may be better for soft plastics.  My personal favorite is the 803C.

My experience with Loomis rods and the 853C in general are that the 853 does fish weightless senkos well, but you are on the upper end of weight at around 3/8oz  for the 853.   Can probably get away with fishing up to 1/2oz but I don't find it enjoyable on this particular rod.   I would try to find a 4 power rod that met my specs.  My personal choice would be the 844.

NRX 893C. This rod is practically made for fishing senkos

Very popular rod.

I have always been a G-Loomis guy but I never ventured into the price range above the IMX until recently. I purchased an NRX 893 C and I can say that it’s the best stick I’ve used so far. If you can afford it, I’d recommend it. I also just picked up a Conquest 843 C MBR but I haven’t had the chance to test it out yet. If it performs as awesome as it feels I’m gonna be a happy man. Good luck. No matter what Loomis you decide to get you will be pleased.

This is the “classic” anwser, but I want to make a case for the GLX 783c. It’s a great, versatile rod for close in/mid range fishing and it’s short legnth makes it great for target-casting, which for me are what senkos/wrightless plastics call for.

What do you guys like to use your 893C for? I picked up a GLX 893c and I've never owned this model loomis before. Seems like it can do a lot?

In the G Loomis line the GLX, NRX & Conquest all stand out as winners. Another consideration would be Kistler KLX, Helium 3 or Z bone which are all built on Gary Loomis blanks from North Fork and very sensitive & light weight. If you stick with the G Loomis brand take a close look at the mag bass tapers as they are the most versatile for day to day use with different techniques including soft plastic applications.

893C is awesome for weightless plastics.  If you don't mind a little shorter rod the 854 is fairly close to the 893 and would be a really good option too.  Go NRX if you can afford it.

Much appreciated help from all the replies so far.

I think that all the consensus on the answers lines up with my interests of going with the NRX 893C.   My only fear is that I'll want to buy more rods in different lengths and actions to replace my entire existing line...

I love the Glx and conquest, but get far more fish in the boat with the MBR’s which is what the conquest is based from.  7’ for that application

Save up the money and get a NRX or Conquest.  But doing so will cause you to want to sell all your other rods and get all NRX's or Conquest's...    (I say that from experience.  I had all NRX's until the Conquest's came out and now I've got all Conquest's, minus my big bait rods and those are IMX Pro's).

Good luck in your search.  :thumbsup3:

So far I’ve used mine for Texas rigs, senkos, and light jigs but I’d figure it can easily handle most applications short of crankin.

Also, glad to share some info on the G-Loomis brand. Honestly it’s crazy how easy it is to get locked in to a serious fishing gear collection. I swear my garage could double as a local bait shop. I love it but my wife shudders when I get near a Bass Pro it when I get on the Tackle Warehouse website. I’m truly a fishing junkie. ?

Thanks to everyone for all the input and advice.  I pulled the trigger on a used NRX 893c from eBay and scored it for $388,. I figured that was a solid deal and can't wait to start landing some bucket mouths with it

I fish glx line up and man are they sweet! I went this route because of a buddy who is sponsered said most of the boys he fishes with and along side prefer the glx vs nrx for the money, minus a handful of models. So I went glx and have been happy. But now this season is going try the nrx and it will be 893c

i have an 894c and it’s fantastic for jigs! But the 893 I want for senko’s more open water plastics, deep water finesse jigs, heavy tubes.
