The state of Tennessee encourages economic development, high paying jobs and family values.

We have no state income tax and offer unlimited opportunities to sportsmen and women.  The

cost of living is low and the quality of life is high.

I love vacationing in Tennessee, the Smokies, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Great state and people.

My only complaint would be the "slower" pace of life there. Not the hustle and bustle I am used to. Had to get used to spending 20 minutes on line at the local grocery with only one person ahead of me. Cashier chatted up a storm about anything and everything.

Honestly I was on vacation and need to slow down anyway.

Thats the hardest part being a transplant from the north.

That "slower" pace was not something I ever saw in NE Ohio.

Hurry up, wait and cuss was the normal operating procedure up there.

Amazon coming to Nashville is all well and good but the really big news just came out today.  Icee is moving from LA to the Nashville area.  I LOVE ICEEs.  Especially when you swirl cherry and cola flavors together.

Similar here in SE Michigan.  Up north is a whole different culture.  Here in the Detroit area, when you blow the horn, people give you the ol' one finger salute.  Up north, they smile and wave.

Tennessee is a beautiful state.

I have a number of UT friends and they are first class.

Pigeon Forge is a fun place, too. Like being in Myrtle Beach without the beach and traffic.

My in-laws are vacationing at Gatlinburg this week. Nice time to visit before the summer crowds.

I was in Gatlinburg Thursday and Friday for the state chapter of the wildlife society meeting and there was traffic, even on rainy weekdays in winter . Had to park 2/3 mile from the conference haha. Nothing like summer though

I love the state and the people, esp. in east Tn.

That being said, I dont think Id be too accepted there even though my dad was from the appalachians.

Once they see my GATOR hat, the smiles and friendliness usually go away.

I had that experience at the smoky mtn visitor center in gatlinburg. 9 year old boy was walking by and did a double take and giving me a stare down, as I had on one of my camo Gator hats. He said with a thick E. tennessee accent " Youuu like the Gaters ???." I said yep, Florida's my home state. He looked like he was scared to death I was the boogie man or something.

I wondered, what are they teaching this child at home ???

Teaching them right!! Or as the locals would say, “learning em right!” We do hate the gators but you are welcome to fish in my boat anytime, mike! Great story by the way

Haha! Yea lane is not the most popular guy around here......... we wouldn’t  hate the gators nearly as bad if you would let us win some games on the gridiron a little more frequently ........

We were in Nashville one time with my BIL and his wife. walking through Opry Mills Mall we come to a UT store. My Bil goes to the doorway and yells go UK. We disappeared to avoid the death threats we knew were coming. He was going to be on his own dealing with those crazy UT fans.

I think that all schools have their "rabid" fans. Don't get me wrong, I've been a Volunteer all of my 59 years, but I'm a realist. Everything runs in cycles, some last longer than others. I remember Bama having some down years, as has Florida. Vandy, KY and MSU football are rocking right now. Heck, who in their right mind would have ever thought that UT MENS Basketball would be doing so well.

All that to say, I like to see all SEC teams win! I do want UT football to retain it's glory years, will it happen? I sure hope so. I show respect to all SEC fans, maybe with some mild needling, but respect none the less. So you come on and visit TN, wear you gator stuff, your Bama stuff, your LSU Tiger stuff, etc, etc, etc. Heck, come on and move to East TN, you'll love it.

I love sports here in east Tennessee just as much as I did living in Corvallis, Oregon.  Game days kept more people off the water whether it be pro or college.  Not saying I don't watch any....but.....it usually has to be once the sun goes down.  I like to smile at all the loyalties.....I'm sure people have smiled at my addiction too.

:)

....and games not recorded.
