Norman lures quick clips

I was going through all my tackle I’ve ordered over the past few months and completely reorganizing everything and I came across a package of Norman Lures quick clips I purchased a while back. Anybody ever use these? Do they hold up well? 

 

They were cheap enough that if they’re a no go I’m good with that. Just seeing what you guys use or simply just re-tie?

I had a package too and used them a little . I didnt have any issues with them .

I found the Norman clips difficult to take crankbaits off, they go on OK and can't see them failing. Stopped using them.

I have  bad hands and use them on everything but most top water as they are hard to attach to,  have never had them bend or break> quick to change lures and personnally dont see them affect lure action

I use an Owner type and I promise you after what happened to me today, I don't see how one will ever fail. I was fishing an A rig on 50lb braid using an Owner clip and I got hung up. We trolled over to it and I couldn't get it unhooked. After trying I decided to break my line. I wrapped my braid around the Gator Grip measuring board and was going to pull as hard as I could. Well after some effort, I straightened a hook on one of my jigheads. There is no way a fish will straighten one of these.

I've used them off and on for a couple years. I use them when I'm changing out hard baits frequently, which isn't very often. I don't think there's any danger in them failing before your line would break, but you have to make sure you have it on all the way - it's possible to think you have it fastened when you don't. It's sort of like having a split ring only halfway on.

 

I don't think there's any negative effect on action.

 

The small (1/2") size (which I use) can be difficult for old, wet, cold fingers, etc. They can also be tricky with baits that have a recessed eye in the lip. The large (1") size are too bulky and too visible in my opinion, but they are easier for old fingers.

I used them in the past. The small size is plenty strong and doesn't seem to change the bait action. As I get older they are getting harder to open so I switched to these P-Line Technical snaps:

The smallest size has a 33lb breakage strength. That's about 32lbs more than most of the bass I catch up here. ?

I use them all the time for my cranks and sometimes on frogs.

 

The trick is NOT trying to squeeze them open. Turn them 

sideways and work the clip circle open onto the bait eye. Very

easy to use when you do it this way.

I struggled getting crankbaits off at night using Norman clips and ended up cutting the line after hooking myself.. I prefer cross link style clips and currently use Owner Hyper Weld, light weight and easy to open and close at night, haven't lost a bass from clip failure.

Lots of good clip choices. I only use clips on spoons and diving crankbaits, they enhance those lures action and easy to change lures.

Very true on the choices out there. As for removing the clips, I do basically

the same thing as putting them on. A little twist usually does the trick, but

I can see how that could be frustrating, esp. at night.

 

I also have "regular" clips on some setups.
