Hey guys, I’ve been thinking about checking out a few of the ALX rods recently after all the great reviews on here and other websites. Are they worth the hype? How is the sensitivity? What are your favorite models?

I currently have an arsenal of mid-range Loomis rods (mossyback, imx pro) for pitching/ bottom contact and dobyns champs for my moving baits. I am very happy with the Dobyns rods, so probably will hold onto them. Would the ALX be any more sensitive than the mossybacks? Specifically I’m interested in the deputy, toadface, and dragger rods.

They are very well built and high quality for the $ but sensitive is not an attribute of alx rods in my opinion.

I own a Dragger and am impatiently awaiting delivery of a custom Deputy.  The Dragger makes a great pitching rod but works very well for long casts also. It has plenty of stoutness but enough bend in the tip to load up when casting and keeping a fish pinned.

On the sensitivity scale:  Tough to say.  I haven't fished it across a ton of hard bottoms.  There are times that I'll be dragging a T rig across a bottom and think "man I can barely feel what's going on" and other times it seems like every little pebble and twig is amplified.

I know that may sound a little crazy.  So far I'd give it a solid 7 on sensitivity.  Super nice rod though.

I have both Loomis & Dobyns rods & tend to favor the Dobyns rods. Never had a ALX rod so I can't comment on them.

I have Loomis, ALX and Dobyns Rods.  GLX/NRX would be your most sensitive, second ALX, third Dobyns. All good rods in their own right... I might rank ALX highest value of the three.  I have the Dragger and Toadface on its way.
