Bandersnatch Posted February 24, 2019 Posted February 24, 2019 I purchased a new Shimano Chronarch MGL from ebay. After taking it out for the first time I realized that the drag is slipping even with the start wheel winched all the way down. By slipping i mean it just a little tug on the line and the spool will pull out. I feel like I'm doing something wrong but I don't have the issue with my new metanium. Any advice would be helpful. Delaware Valley Tackle Posted February 24, 2019 Posted February 24, 2019 Do you have braid spooled on? If so did you use backing? This accounts for 99.9% of slipping drag complaints. 1 Quote

My met works fine. Also these are my first higher end reels. I've been using straight braid on my lews for years without any issue. Quote
CroakHunter Posted February 24, 2019 Posted February 24, 2019 I'm gonna go with the professional and say its your line slipping Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted February 24, 2019 Posted February 24, 2019 You’ve been lucky. That is 100% the problem. Reel the braid onto another reel then put a strip of electrical tape around the spool then re-spool. 2 Quote

I don't mind either just want it to work. 50 minutes ago, Delaware Valley Tackle said: You’ve been lucky. That is 100% the problem. Delaware Valley Tackle Posted February 24, 2019 Posted February 24, 2019 Either way will work equally well. I usually only use about 70 yds of braid on top but since you had a full spool already I threw out the tape option. Quote
