the yak gear straps with the cover are on sale for $8 right now.

That link doesn't mention the rollercam, like the picture you also provided does.  Is there a benefit to the roller cam vs the yak gear ones?

I agree 100%. We've been using them for 3 years. They are well worth the loot. I think they are on sale now which makes them an even better bargain.........

The roller cam straps just make it a little easier to set the tension. It's certainly not a deal breaker. It looks like you could get a pair of the YakGear straps at ACK for about the price of one roller cam strap. I would look at the YakGear straps....

Another item that might prove helpful is hood anchors. Depending on the length or your yak and vehicle, a bow line might rub the grill facia. Here's what a hood anchor looks like...

I saw those on ack.com as well.  I will admit, I am not a fan of ropes/straps rubbing on the hood of the vehicle.  I know I can place towels or whatever to protect it.  But those hood anchors look better

but to answer the length question, my vehicle is 15ft long, and the yak is 10'-6"
