Going to add another baitcaster for some heavy lures like glide baits and big swimbaits.

It is my undertanding the Scorpion DC is predecessor to the Curado DC. The model year on the latest Scorpion DC is 2017 and the Curado DC came out in 2018. I’m seeing the Scorpion DC is $235 and the Curado DC is $250.

Were any updates made during the time? Is one better than the other?

Thanks!

The Scorpion dc uses the old Curado 200i platform, while the Curado dc uses the newer Curado k platform. If you are planing to use it for bigger baits then i would get the curado dc do to it having a larger spool (so you can use larger diameter line). Also the handle on the Scorpion dc is only 84mm long while on the Curado dc it is 90mm. The braking system does have less adjustment on the Curado Dc than on the Scorpion dc (4 adjustments on the Curado vs. 3x5 on the Scorpion).

The 2019 Scorpion MGL is being released now or very soon. We could probably expect a DC version to follow......

I really like the Curado DC and own several but it wouldn't be my first choice for a big swimbait or glidebait reel.

You may want to look at a Tranx 300 or some other equivalent.

Thanks everyone for help!

The Tackle Tour reviews were insightful. With the review and hearing the Curado DC is built on the Curado K platform, sealed the deal for me. My baitcasters are all Chronarches or Curado Ks, so makes it an easy choice.

Thanks again!
