Rpratt Posted February 21, 2019 Posted February 21, 2019 Ok, for those all confused as to what is going on with the MLF and how are running things, they just kind of cleared it up. Trust me I was confused myself at times lol. There is 8 regular BPT tournaments thru the year. The top 30 point anglers from those tournaments will move on to their version of the BASS Angler of the Year called the Redcrest. That tourney will pay out 300,000 for the winner. After every two tournaments they will take the top 30 anglers to fish a cup tournament, which is basically this is now how they are going to incorporate the new format into the TV show. No more selects, just 4 cup events. The names of those events are now called the Challenge, Heritage, Patriot and Summit Cups. The results of these cups are going to be kept in the dark and you see it as the TV show the following year. Sorry if that sounded redundant . Quote

Super User jbsoonerfan Posted February 21, 2019 Super User Posted February 21, 2019 And just in case you were wondering Quote
Jleebesaw Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 So we wont see the show with all the big dogs on tv until next year? That sucks. I've been watching it on tv and really like it but was hoping to see the new stuff sooner than next year. Quote
Hutch13 Posted February 23, 2019 Posted February 23, 2019 Some of it is still pretty confusing. The top 3 anglers from the 3rd cup event (Patriot Cup) and 4th cup event (Challenge Cup) are supposed to participate in the Championship event (Redcrest), but Redcrest happens before the two cup events. How can that be? Also, what point system are they using to determine the top 30 for each cup event? I can't find any explanation of that. 1 Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted February 23, 2019 Super User Posted February 23, 2019 Well, first of all, the General World Championship is in 2020, not this coming week. I will try to explain the rest. First off think "color" when you look at the chart. The BPT events in gray are what qualify them for the Redcrest (also in gray). The top 30 anglers from those 8 events will fish in it. The points will be determined off how they finish in each event. So there's that. Now shift your focus to red. The top 3 of each of those cup events, along with the top 2 in cup points, the redcrest champion and the reigning champion will fish in the World Championship in 2020. Quote

I kind of like the “whoever catches the most weight of black bass” format. Not too tricky Quote
Tfrossi Posted February 24, 2019 Posted February 24, 2019 I just wish they would figure out a way to do it all live throughout the year as one cohesive tour\schedule ,do away with the year long tape delay. It just makes sense and would be better for the sport. 2 Quote
