2 Piece Rod Question

I bought two 7'3" MH Omen Black IIs about 2 years ago. Loved both rods. Used one for Texas rigs, and the other for dragging jigs. Long story short, one of the rods broke, and I got a 7'1" MH as a replacement because it was all they had, and I had a tournament the next week, so shipping wasn't an option. I didn't realize that the rod was a 2 piece until I was home. I started to fish the rod with a Shimano Casitas with 12 lb invisx, and I hated the combo for small chatterbaits. I am wondering if the onepiece version is better, or if my dislike of the Casitas impacted my opinion of the Omen? it functions well with a different reel, but I can tell if its worth keeping or not.

Fifteen years ago I bought a 6'6" 2-piece Cabelas Tourney to take to Florida on vacation.  I fished the daylights out of that MH rod along with my regular rods and I may be brain dead (don't ask my wife), but I could not tell the difference in that rod and my one piece rods.  My grandson has it now and uses it all the time for bass. As I look back on that rod it amazed me at how light it was for that time.  Even though it was a MH it fished like a medium and was a great top water rod.

I will have my friends try it and if they can't tell, we can assume its a subconscious bias due to the fact that I disliked the reel I had on it when I got it, and misinformation about two piece rods.

I know some people claim to feel the difference between a 1 or 2 piece, but I never have.  That said, I've been buying 2 piece rods the last few years because I drive a small car and can't fit a 1 piece without sacrificing space.

I've got several 2-piece St Croix rods I use when I travel, from their Triumph love up to the Legend Elites.  I've never been able to tell the difference between them and my 1-piece rods.  If you like the rod with another reel, keep it.  It may come in handy someday.

I didn't realize until after 10 years my favorite rod was a two piece. It was together when I purchased it.

been using 2pc. rods for yrs. ... from bps ... very happy with 'em ... recently bought kk 2 pc. perigee II 7 ft. m and mh ... tips ... you get a m and mh tip ... you have 2 rods ...  break one they send you another ... lifetime ... very sensitive with patented technology ...better than the bps ...

I picked one up early last year due to the fact that I needed a 2 pc for a trip. I really liked it immediately. I ended up picking up a second one shortly thereafter. Grabbed a third for 64.99$ during the past TW sale. IMO, it doesn't fish/feel much different at all than the 1 pc. I rarely throw anything less than a 1/2oz. A 3/8oz chatterbait with just about any trailer will reach that weight and more. A 6" senko weighs 15 grams and loads nicely with this rod.

 

They've held up well so far. The first week I had mine I waded a spot that was mostly pad fields. I was chucking a 6" senko with a 5ot superline hook on 30lb braid as far as I could and dragged it up and over the pads. I hooked several 4-5 pounders 100 feet out and fought them back through well rooted pad stalks. I really expected the rod to snap several times but it didn't. So, I've been happy with how it fishes and very happy with it's durability. I fish locally often, and with a truck I rarely need to break the rods down. I fish with these as much as any one piece I have. I don't feel like I'm suffering at all in comparison. Still, it might not be for you. It's a personal thing for sure.
