Hey  guys,

I was looking at older DC reels because the newer DC ones are so expensive.

I saw these two and since there aren't many comparisons or reviews i was going to ask you guys.

I own the Scorpion DC7 but wish i had gotten the Metanium. If you don't wont the whine of DC then get the Scorpion (still an awesome reel.) If you want the whine then get the Metanium.

what are you looking to do with the reel?

I am mostly a shore fisherman so i am looking to use it for a variety of uses.

I was looking on ebay last night and noticed the cheapest left handed reel was around $220 and at that point i figured i might as well just go for the new Curado DC.

Still trying to decide whether or not to go DC considering the price.

While I really like my Metanium Mg DC, I would say it is more of a niche reel for me. It’s good for squarebills and medium diving crankbaits, jerkbaits, weightless plastics, but I don’t love it for bottom contact and heavier baits. It’s hard to explain but I find the Magnesium frame combined with the lower gear ratio makes it best for these lighter techniques and don’t end up using it a lot with more power techniques. If you want a reel to do it all with it sounds like the new Curado DC will fit the bill.

Interesting, i just looked and on ebay the metanium left handed is already about $220 so i agree with going with the curado at that point.

Thanks!

This is almost a year old, maybe a decision has been made by now.

Never used either.  You could add the older Exsence DC to that list.
