Bronzeback23 Posted February 18, 2019 Posted February 18, 2019 I’m looking to take my dad on a fishing trip to Chickamauga. We both have talked about doing it for a while but I’ve decided to bite the bullet and book a trip but I’ve got a few problems. One we are farmers from Michigan and our only window to go before planting season is March (maybe early April) . Two I have no idea on the best time to go and best guide service. I’m assuming if we go in March we will be fishing for pre-spawners? Also we definitely aren’t looking for any live bait guides and I’m not opposed to going to a different lake as long as it’s not too far south if it’s usually better fishing during this time period. I have a lot of questions and any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks! Quote
BoatSquirrel Posted February 18, 2019 Posted February 18, 2019 MLF pro Michael Neal owns Dayton Boat Dock and tackle shop on Chick. They will probably be able to recommend someone. (423) 428-9090. It will be best if you can go during the week if they are not already all booked up. If so, try Guntersville. I know Rex Chambers guides there and is excellent, also Brent Crow. Most of these folks do not fish with live bait. https://m.facebook.com/DaytonBoatDockandGrill/ https://www.northalabamabass.com/smith-lake https://www.smithlakeguideservice.com/ 1 Quote

Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted February 19, 2019 Global Moderator Posted February 19, 2019 Mike Carter is another good one. Best time for giant bass was Dec and January before the flooding. Cold terrible weather is when most chickamauga Giants are caught. They can still be caught during your time frame, but winter is best 1 Quote
