Super User roadwarrior Posted February 18, 2019 Super User Posted February 18, 2019 Man... What a joke. I gave up on NASCAR several years ago, but watched this race... 2 Quote

Super User Sam Posted February 18, 2019 Super User Posted February 18, 2019 I watched the last few laps, turning on the TV just after the big accident. Loved how it ended. Great race at the end. I gave up my Richmond NASCAR tickets as the races were just too boring. No action. No accidents. No body getting into fights. Just round and round they went. So my buddy and I decided not to renew my four NASCAR and four Xfinity tickets that we have used for the past 23 years. And we never missed either of the two races each year. If we decide to go back we can always find tickets at the race track. Quote
Super User Koz Posted February 18, 2019 Super User Posted February 18, 2019 I tuned in for the last 10 laps. 90 minutes later I was still waiting for the race to end. I used to go to Rockingham, Charlotte, and Darlington every year way back when. Back then there was a 10 year wait list for Bristol tickets. Still, tickets were affordable until corporations began buying blocs of tickets for employees and customers. But between drivers retiring and the France family trying gimmick after gimmick to appeal to people with shorter attention spans I stopped watching. I didn't even recognize the names of half the drivers in the field yesterday. I grew up watching modified stock car racing in New England, mostly at the Danbury Racearena as well as going to Thompson and Stafford Springs. One of the best drivers at Danbury was Don Lajoie (picture below), grandson of NASCAR driver Cory Lajoie. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted February 19, 2019 Super User Posted February 19, 2019 I use to always watch the races until about 20 years ago. Now if a race is on I just flip channels back and forth. Quote
redmeansdistortion Posted February 21, 2019 Posted February 21, 2019 I haven't watched the race in quite some time. That said, I do like to go to the smaller tracks and watch the local guys, great fun. My favorite tracks are Flat Rock, Toledo Speedway, and Birch Run. Always a good time. I also like hitting Milan Dragway a few times per year. One of my favorite classes at Milan is when they run mini bikes. You'd be surprised how fast an old Ruttman mini bike can go with a modified Honda 196cc log splitter engine. Quite a few are breaking 100mph in the 8th mile. http://www.roadkill.com/the-outlaw-minibike-scene-of-detroit-michigan/ Quote
