I've noticed a lot E6x bashing going on here. I checked out a bunch of them and all of them were really nice and light, well balanced, and sensitive.

I have some older IMX rods, which are excellent rods, and I like the E6x rods with the similar actions a lot. What gives? What am I missing?

All the ones I've fished and held were well put together and looked great.

Just bought 2 of them a few days ago and I really like how they feel and balance also.

I just bought the 892S JWR. it feels awesome. I also have the MBR 903c and love it.

a couple of points:

1. the 2018 models are lighter than the original models, that is part of the diversity of reviews. some of the heavier power original models are a bit heavier, the newer versions are lighter. Amercian Legacy says their field testers say they are more crisp like the Imx pros.

2. some models are said to fish better than others.

I too wonder, because I love my E6Xs and I have many other loomis models (TSR, Escape series, GL3s)

As a former e6x owner, these rods are by no means junk. I caught hundreds of fish on mine over the few years I owned them. I’ve heard the 2018 model is greatly improved compared to the original model I owned.

I think the typical argument against them is that there are better rods on the market at or slightly above the e6x price tag. ALX zolo, dobyns champion, shimano zodias, just to name a few. At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is that the rods you choose feel comfortable for YOU.

Cheap components is what I've heard as the main complaint, adding on to what else has been said here. The blanks are very nice, but the real seats (what I personally care about the most) are the exact same thing as on every other rod from $50 on up. Idk, just cheap feeling in the hand. The guides and tip-tops no one can really complain about because everyone uses cheap materials there. Imo if it has an insert it's probably up to snuff.

Love those blanks though. I was tempted to buy an e6x and strip the components off of it and put on higher quality ones for my custom spinning rod, but it would've nearly doubled the price so I didn't follow through.

one thing I cant figure out is why the E6X gets bashed for using aluminum oxide guides while the Avid X never does? it uses aluminum oxide too!

only the original avid has the alconites.

Don't understand bashing the components either. They are Fuji guides and reel seats.

I don't get it either. They use Fuji reel seats and guides. Both are super solid, but not fancy. All my old IMX rod have them too and they are excellent.

I have 3 of the newer ones and they’re great rods. I love them.

I haven't used the older style E6x, only the newer style. Maybe there is a difference in them?

The main complaint I see is that they're overpriced for what they are and that value wise a 100-150 dollar rod makes more sense.

Where's the bashing going on at? Product bashing isn't allowed so if there's bashing going on just for the sake of bashing a company/product report it so it can be dealt with. However, if someone has used/owned a product and wasn't impressed they're entitled to their opinion.

I just searched through several topics that discussed the E6X and actually seemed pretty split between people who liked it and those who didn't or recommended something else, which is pretty typical.

Maybe bashing is wrong word. Just seems like there's some harshness for a really solid product.

When the Loomis E6X was introduced this site featured the rod with a banner and several members bought them. The feedback wasn't that positive with guides misaligned and cork cracking, the workmanship was subpar for the price point.

One person's opinion of what's a solid product isn't going to align with another though, and that's okay. If there's an opinion thread (X vs Y), you're always going to get differing opinions. I promise you, I could start a thread Ugly Stick vs GLX/Legend Elite/Steez and there would be some picking the Ugly Stick over the high end rods because it's the indian not the arrow, Ugly Stick are the best rods ever ect. (Ugly Stick are just fine if you like them, just using them as an example, I own a few myself).

You have to take it all with a grain of salt too. Some will grade a rod great or poor by what they read or hear, or from just holding one in a store and never actually using it. Plus what feels good to one may not to another. I'm not a big fan of Abu Revos because they don't fit my hands well. Doesn't make them bad, makes them bad for me, but I understand that, some others don't and will grade a product poorly because it didn't fit them.

Yeah man. Grain of salt taken.

That makes sense. I am only familiar with the newer version of E6x rods.

true, but Loomis has had QC issues with all their rods, even the ones 3x the price of the E6X. Remember all the broken reel seats with the NRXs? it was insane.

I’ll take your Revos off your hands and I won’t even charge you for the disposal of them and I’ll even pay to have them shipped to my house. ?

The complaint I usually hear is that they are quite a bit in comparison to similar or arguably superior rods from other manufacturers. I have never owned one, but they did not feel like bad rods when I saw them in a store and at least they are Made in the USA, which is something I would spend a little extra for.

I use a first gen E6X 853C JWR as my T Rig rod and it performs great. As far as quality goes I honestly haven’t seen any issues, especially not off the shelf.

I have been wondering where all of the negative reviews have been coming from as well.

I don't see an issue with them, the E6X MBR 843C is one of my favorite go to rods.  I'd probably own more of them if I didn't like the Shimano Zodias more.

I used to hear a lot of noise about the GL2 series a few years back, and the one I have works fine.  I've played with the E6X, and they're decent.  They "turn my screws" so to speak, and I'd prefer something else at that price point, like an Avid.  You are always going to pay a little more for a Loomis or Saint Croix, but you're buying from a dependable company that is known for high quality.  If you like them, get one.
