TimberTodd Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 I am considering painting the blades of my kayak paddle yellow or orange for better safety and visibility, they are currently black. I run a orange flag so I am seen better, my Nucanoe Frontier is camo. My question is has anyone done this and if so how did the paint hold up? I figured on using something like the Rustoleum spray paint for plastics. Quote
kjfishman Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 You could put orange reflective tape. 1 Quote
Crow Horse Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 Tape will hold up better than paint on the blades.... 1 Quote
Super User Darren. Posted February 19, 2019 Super User Posted February 19, 2019 I agree that paint isn't gonna do it; however, you may...*may* be able to do the PVC color trick using industrial dye and a clear PVC cleaner bottle. i've had mixed results doing so making a black dye, but I think i got my mixture a little messed up. I'm not entirely certain what plastics a paddle blade is made of, so this could be a dead-on-arrival idea. https://makezine.com/2010/09/20/make-projects-permanently-stain-p/ Quote
TimberTodd Posted February 20, 2019 Author Posted February 20, 2019 Thanks guys. I have considered using the reflective tape and it sounds like thats the way to go. Quote
