(Obligatory late-winter cabin fever thread warning). Is it just me or does anyone feel like there is a gap in the sizing for the Owner safety caps? I seem to run into this fairly frequently where the hook is slightly too big (wider gap) than the medium (purple) size will allow, but going to the large (yellow) it isn't a heavy enough wire to stay in the little snaps and the cap just falls off with almost no effort. I wish they made an in-between size. Do any other companies make these hook bonnets that you have found to cover this "gap"?

What size treble are you saying is in between the two different sized safety caps? I have some of the medium purples that fit a #2 fine and they appear to also fit #1. Is that not the case?

Hah, you are not alone.  The BBZ Rat 50 stock hooks are a good example of this.

Ive been using the covers for years. If your using ewg (kvd triple grip) style, the purple will fit a #4 but not a #2. These covers are the best there is. But as hook styles have changed over the years, the covers havent. They were built around a standard treble,of standard guage wire. Some light wire hooks may or may not snap in.I have had no issues except going from a #4 to #2 i believe it was?

Ive used every style available, but the owners are the best there is. Easy on and off. I have tried the large size for hooks that never fit the purple. But the yellow(large) were just too much. So lures that were in between just go without covers. It may have been goin from #2 to#1 Id have to check.

For example, size 1 Owner ST-36s that I use fairly often. The mediums fit but I have to kind of jam them on, the yellow large size will fall off under it's own weight. Even the size 1/0s don't stay in the yellows that well it seems.

The medium sized purple Owner caps most certainly will fit a #2 Mustad KVD Short Shank Triple Grip Treble Hook. They will snap in and hold perfectly.

Now the large sized yellow Owner caps are a big big for a #1 Mustad KVD Short Shank Triple Grip Treble Hook. You can put them in and it will stay on for the most part in your tackle box but if you were to take them out and kind of shake the lure the would slide off.

The purple is a perfect fit for the #2. I think I still would recommend the purple for the #1. It will not "snap in" on all 3 hooks but the will for 2 and the other leg of the treble is big enough it will certainly hold.

Actually I just got the purple mediums to fit on the #1 EWGs. Certainly a little snug but all 3 hooks snapped in and all. They will come off fine and do not damage the hook or the safety cap. I'd say these are the way to go.

I am curious to try these. Are they easy to get on and off when on the water? I am sick of all of my hooks getting tangled.

These will change your life.  Amazing for storing lures as well because they don't get tangled up as you move them around.

They are a marked quality of life upgrade if you fish out of a backpack and don't carry much tackle.
