PeterF Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 Anyone ever cut the legnth on a TM shaft. I have a 1448 Grizzly and the shaft sticks out way too much and I want to cut it down. Quote
Super User Way2slow Posted April 25, 2008 Super User Posted April 25, 2008 I've cut Motor Guide shafts but things don't always go as planned. Had an aluminum shaft that the threads ended up get stuck into head after a couple of turns. Ended up making a mess out of the shaft getting it out. Naturally you will have to take the head off. You also need to hold the wires going through the shaft so they don't twist up while screwing the shaft out of the motor. Quote
Garnet Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 I had Minn Kota shortened. Cost $50. Buddy retreaded the inner shaft, looked like a very fine thread and was a little tricky to get started but has worked fine for 2 seasons. Garnet Quote
