So the man himself did it again this weekend at the St johns where he has set the record as the oldest fisherman to win a Bassmaster 'Elite" series tournament. He set the record three years ago at the age of 69 and he broke his own record again at the ripe age of 72 years young. This is a man who indeed loves the sport and keeps himself physically and mentally sharp to keep his dream going. What a man to look up to.

I agree, even at his age the man still fishes like its nothing. Have you ever tried any one of his Luck-E-Strike lures such as the trickster?

Rick Clunn is in my humble opinion  the consummate master of all things bass. I've followed his career pretty much from the beginning, and if I ever had the pleasure of meeting him I would thank him, not only for everything he's done for our sport, but for the personal lessons he unwittingly imparted to me.

At 72 years young he does still make it look easy, and I hope we can still say that 10 years from now. ?

Congrats Mr. Clunn! Keep on keepin' on!?????

Lots don't comprehend the physical and emotional toll fishing at his level takes out of you.  This is evidenced by those that have dropped out much younger and the reasons why.  Physical ailments in arms, legs and back are pretty common.  He is the exception to the rule and deserves all the credit.  A true legend.

Been a Huge Fan of the Zen Master for a long time.

His longevity in the sport serves as a tribute to his overall greatness in most every aspect of it.

I'm 39 and I know my body sure does hurt a lot worse after a day on the water than it did when I was 29. To still be competing at a high level at 72 is pretty amazing in my eyes. The wealth of knowledge he has is probably more than most of us could dream of having.

Rick Clunn is at a whole different level than everyone else & he knows it.

2001 Bassmaster Top 150 Pro/Am Toledo Bend I was selected to fish the Amateur side. Night before the tournament there was a meeting to pair up Pros with Amateurs. 150 Pros, 150 Amateurs, with family & friends were in the foyer waiting for the doors to open into the convention center. Mr Clunn comes walking through the crowd, everyone kinda moves aside. He walks up to the double doors, grabs a folding chair & leans back against the doors. You could have heard a pin drop!

The worm he used was old stock Ditto Gator Tails . I always liked those worms and at times would fish them like a buzz bait .

I think that given his experience and expertise, not having won more tournaments the last few years shows you just how hard it is to win out there.  I’d love to seen him do the MLF.  One thing I noticed in watching him is that he always seemed to be teaching.  I really appreciated that.

Very, very good.

Example: “the Rams had some guys this year but the Patriots had dudes”

I was really happy to see him win it! Arguably the best ever tournament bass fisherman!

Had the chance to meet and talk with him at the Classic in Tulsa OK a few years back. It was a good time and interesting conversation.
