Hi everyone,

I've already posted in a few forums but I thought I'd take time to introduce myself.

From age 5 to about 45, I lived to fish.  I live in Northern NY and I fished every chance I got.  Mostly wading rivers and streams, or from a canoe.  Favorite fish are bass, pike, and walleye, but I'll fish for anything.  I followed the BASS tour and daydreamed of being a pro.  When my wife and I started a small hobby farm, fishing just disappeared from my life.  But last fall I took my 5 year old grandson fishing for the first time and it all came back to me.  Now I'm (hopefully) on the brink of owning my first bass boat.  A lot has changed since I was into fishing.  Holy cow, are lures expensive now!  I'll probably ask a ton of questions, especially regarding the boat.  I'm an experienced fisherman but not an experienced boater.

Welcome, I myself got back into it after taking my 5 year old grandson fishing. I hadn’t fished for about 25 years. The first time I brought him I didn’t have a rod or a license and thought boy this is stupid I should get a few things to fish with him. It took one cast and all the memories came right back. The bait monkey has been beating  me up ever since. I’m glad to meet someone who got fired up again the way way I did. Oh and yes lures are allot more $ now.

Welcome @billmac to BR and welcome back to our wonderful sport!

Leave it to the grandkids to get you fired up again! The first time I took my grandson (abt 6 years ago) all I could do was smile at the joy catching a little sunfish brought him. It took me right back to my first fishing adventure with my dad over 50 years ago.

I never gave up the sport, and am sometimes too serious about it for my own good, but time with the grandson reminded me of the simple joy of being together and wetting a line just because. ?
