Multiple rod setups

I currently own an abu garcia revo sx 6.6 ratio and a h20 ethos hd 6'6 med heavy rod.  I also just bought an open face h20 combo that's 6'6 medium.  I'm looking to pick up another abu in 7.3 and a 7'3 heavy h20 ethos hd.  I'm probably going to use braid with all 3 unless it would be a big mistake.  

 

The heavy rod with a 7.3 ratio is mostly going to be used for frogs.  Would this setup be good for more? 

 

The medium 6'6 open face is going to probably be used mostly for soft plastics.

 

The med heavy rod with the 6.6 is going to be the workhorse for everything  else except the plastics and frogs.

 

Am I off base with the type of uses or is that good?

 

What color and test braid should I use for each of these?  I'm trying to get the most out of these combos because I dont really have the resources to do much more.

The heavy w/7.3 is a little slower than I'd like for it, but it could be used for flipping/pitching/punching - 50# or 65# braid on that one. Equal to my Fuego rig.

 

The spinning reel could also be used for finesse fishing. Not ideal, but with a light braid - 8# or 10# with a leader - it could work. You could also run the smaller crank/jerkbaits - 3/8oz or less - what my Trion rig is mainly for.

 

The MH is definitely the all-around workhorse - crank/jerk/buzz/spinner/chatter. That's what my President rig is for. 20# braid on that.

I was thinking 20 lb Hi vis braid for the spinning rod, 30lb braid of I dont know what color for the MH and 40 or 50lb braid of I dont know what color for the heavy.

 

Any opinions for colors or test for each of these?  I probably wont be using a leader because the water I fish is a bit dirty, yay Indiana.

Gosh, I'd take Glenn's advice in a recent video and work down on your spinning reel line test strength. For finesse applications, I can't imagine ever using over 10 lbs. You can fish it straight as a main line or add a fluoro leader as required. 

 

I doubt there are many fish that could snap 6 lbs. braid line if you use the spinning rod the way it is intended to fight fish (with the rod, not the reel). It'd match up well with your M power.

10# braid is typically good on spinning but I wouldn't go braid if you're not using a leader. You can just go with a high quality mono like the Suffix Advance in 8#.

 

30# braid is good for your MH but without leader I wouldn't. Probably go with 17lb fluoro like Seaguar red.

 

For your heavy rod, you can go straight braid for frog/pitching. Minimum 50# braid.

For finesse fishing, I use 8# mono on my Avocet rig. I wouldn't go much above that, 10# max.

 

The MH rig, 30# braid sounds about right. I'm going a little lighter since my #2 baitcaster is on a medium/fast.

 

The Heavy rig I'd go at least 50# - what I'm putting on my Fuego. Some will 65# - up to you.

 

Color is personal choice on the braid - I'm using Power Pro Green on both my BCs.

I like 10lb braid in hi viz yellow for spinning rods. As mentioned earlier, add a leader of 6-8lb fluorocarbon and you have a great system for line watching, sensitivity, and invisible leader. 

 

For casting I have used 30lb braid, again hi viz yellow. This year I am trying 15lb big game mono, just for something different.
