I know chatterbaits are legendary, some people say color dosen't matter. Others claim white, or some version of white is the best. Still others green pumpkin, black and blue, bluegill, etc. i just want to hear your thoughts on chatterbait colors for farm ponds without shad.

My #1 producer for the past several years is the Rage Blade (white)/ Structure Bug (white).

Use dark colors in stained water and light colors in clear water.  Pretty good rule to go by with most lures on most bodies of water.

Black and blue is my first option for most ponds. If the water is clear, I'll go with bluegill or chartreuse and white.

If any doubt, throw Chart./white, works for me.

My three choices as well

I only use three colors white, white / chartreuse, and green pumpkin.  One of those colors tend to always work.

White SEEMS like a good choice...and OTHER people in my area seem to like it but in all of the different water colors and conditions I've fished, green pumpkin or bluegill has been what I've caught everything on. And I haven't really had any trouble getting them on this either. Lots of people have success with other trailers, but again, all of mine has been with paddletail type trailers, usually some shade of dark green also. Sometimes with the two-tone type deals (in my mind, I think the contrast when moving attracts more attention...I could be wrong).

My general rule of thumb is green pumpkin for smaller lakes and rivers and white for larger lakes.

That seems like a pretty smart formula, and simple too.
