Ive been going back and forth on the next spinning set up. I’m looking at adding a more versitile higher end 1 peice rod. I was debating on a 7’ medium legend elite and it’s still on my mind but the 7’3 nrx 872s seems like it might fill that niche. Little longer, still light. Main thing I’ll throw is finesse tubes, senko’s and the odd ned rig.

I see you mentioned on another post you're from Canada. Do you fish for smallies alot? I have the NRX 872s and I find it the perfect rod for the last minute surges at the boat smallies are known for. I also have a GLX 892s and really like that rod too. I used to fish Lk St Clair alot so long casts with tubes and the like in that clear water makes those longer rods shine. If I had the cash I would not hesitate to buy another NRX 872s or GLX 892s.

I don’t target smallies all the much as majorities of the place local is large mouth, but a few times a year we chase that small mouth bite as it’s tough to beat! Do you prefer the 7’6 or the 7’3 for a more versatile rod if you could only choose one to do the job of both? Which do you prefer between the two?

Anyone else have an opinion? I went and got hands on with the nrx 872 and 852 today and that 852s is a wicked feeling stick! I threw the stradic on it and the 852 felt nicer in the hand to me. Also played with the expride finally as I’ve never got to handle one and wow is that a great feeling rod for the money! It feels very close too the glx in comparison. I’d say the glx has a slight edge but not 150 dollar edge

Probably the NRX 7'3" but you can't go wrong with a GLX or NRX.

Thank you. Going to have to get my hands on them once more before I make my decision. I really want the 872s just try the extra length but the 852s just felt better to me.
