I have the Ulterra which is just a step above the Terrova. All I can say is that it was a game changer and worth every penny. If you can swing the extra money, it's well worth it. The remote deploy is very useful. Imagine putting the boat in the water, hitting a button on the remote to deploy the motor, troll it over to the edge of the dock and hit the spot lock. No ropes!  You park the truck and the boat will be there waiting. Reverse the process when loading up including driving the boat into the trailer.

To change to 36 volts to get the bigger thrust motor, you only need three batteries. That will make you go faster on the water and reduce weight but that bigger thrust does cost more.

Nope. I've had lots of questions and every time I call they're great.

I had 2 warranty issues the first 6 months I owned my Ultrex.

I had to buy one as soon as they were released. couldn't wait until they had the bugs worked out.

Minn Kota resolved both issues quickly. its worked fine for the last 1.5 years.

I just made the switch from MG and Lowrance to MK and Humminbird.  I bought the Ulterra with I pilot link and a Solix.  I love it.

Do you use the feel of the pedal to drive the boat/trolling motor? The Ultrex is currently the only unit that gives any feedback in the pedal for turning. The others are essentially buttons that turn based on time held vs. pressure.

^^^ this. I owned cable steers for 30 years. I can drive a cable steer by feel. I tried a terrova and an ulterra. I had to constantly watch the motor, to see what direction It was pointed. you can use the remote, but in my opinion it is a pain when bass fishing.

I bought the Ultrex, because it worked just like my previous cable steer motors, except it takes a lot less pressure to steer at high speeds. Plus it had spot lock which is a game changer in bass fishing. It still has a remote control (I rarely use it). All of the functions you need are on the pedal.

If your spotlock capable motor now is an ultrex keep it or you won’t be able to properly mount panoptix to the shaft of an electric steer motor such as the Terrova, ulterra, Xi5

I used the foot pedal the first time or two then I quit using it and mostly just put it on auto pilot I can tap the constant on and off button and stand or sit and face any direction that I want to.

I have a Lowrance hds unit at the bow along with my bird.  I have the total scan transducer mounted on my trolling motor and use a Precision Sonar mount and cable holder.  It is working just fine.

I have a minn Kota edge 45 what I did and will probably do again is make a mount on the trolling motor so I can point the panoptix anywhere by hand and not just where the motor is pointing that way I can point it at the bank I’m trolling parallel to
