Subaqua Adinterim Posted January 31, 2019 Posted January 31, 2019 Going through my old "stuff" and found some lures I got when I was a kid - a long time ago. I think I used them a couple times with no luck, probably because I didn't know what I was doing, more than anything else. Sort of a Dr. Frankenstein type of attempt by the lure company (Storm) to put 2 types of lures together - crankbait/soft plastic. They came along with a little plastic stick to jam the soft plastic into the slot on the back of the lure; although the soft plastic could be fit in without the stick. just thought I'd take the time to share the pics on a freezing cold day if anyone is interested. 4 Quote

Super User Ratherbfishing Posted February 1, 2019 Super User Posted February 1, 2019 I've always had a thing for fat/squat little baits like this. Have you fished these? How is the action? I image the tail probably stunts the action a little. 1 Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted February 1, 2019 Super User Posted February 1, 2019 That is an oddball take on what I call the "ping pong ball". Storm's never been afraid a nuthin'! Those round cranks do bounce through cover really well. I always have a few, for summer or esp in early fall when the veges are still up and dense. There are a bunch out there, but I've mostly used the little Bomber's: Square A and Shallow A. I also have a Bagley's Fat Cat -the ping-pong-ballest of them all! 1 Quote

I haven't fished these since the first time I tried them, years ago when I was a kid, so I can't really recall anything about them. Just for kicks, I will try them again this spring. I don't think they make/sell these retail any more, so I guess they were probably not very effective and are more collectors items now. I researched on the web and I see that some are for sale, or have been for sale. I just posted these as I thought, hey it's the middle of winter, I'll post a picture to break things up, some may be interested in goofy lures from the past. I recall a post a few weeks ago about inventing a new lure; if we look back, someone has probably already tried a lot of things that you may think to invent today. Quote
