I wouldn't, even if it was free.

That's part of the reason I didn't get one. One of my buddies would have had way too much fun yanking my chain. It's not that I couldn't take the joke, I just knew he would drive the joke into the ground. I'd never hear the end of it. Another guy once gave me a nice rod, and my buddy already gives me a hard time about that, implying the guy was gay and implying he gave me the rod because he wants me. I tell him maybe he should try the other side, since he never gets laid anyway, and his equipment is junk ?

It's widely believed that those who are the loudest about it are the ones you need to worry about, for those who worry about such things. Maybe you gave your friend some good advice. Sounds like you have him figured out.

I managed a strip club for five years (yes, women) and later married an insanely beautiful and sweet woman (divorced now). Thanks to this thread I see how silly it is for me to care what a bunch of dudes think. I care what women think sometimes.

In fact, caring more about what dudes think seems kinda - um ya know? ~wink~

I'll be fine with my Lady Prez.

Seriously though, I do appreciate that some guys feel they can't use it or just don't like it, obviously, or I wouldn't have started this thread. I almost didn't buy it. Hey I live in Cali, it's not really such an issue here I'd imagine haha.

When I started this thread I was seriously thinking about painting it. This thread changed my opinion on it I guess. It helped. Pink. It's a color.

I wouldn't fish it, but if it works for you, who cares?

The Lady President is on clearance again at Pflueger's website!!!

$21 for the 35

$30 for the 40

I've learned a lot from this site and thought I'd return the favor. It is a great reel and I use it several days a week. I picked up another 35 for myself.

I saw it on clearance a few weeks ago but it was for $39 I think, so I kept a browser tab open and refreshed that page every few days. Sure enough, it went down to $21 again :)

It's an insanely good deal if you can handle the color. If not maybe you know someone who can. It isn't that pink either. I caught my PB on it a few weeks ago - 5.25 lb so I don't care what color it is! I have zero complaints about it.

Some guys go out of their way for a pink reel like this TD-Z personal order with purple parts.  Not my cup of tea but impressive.

And what exactly is wrong with this reel?  :teeth:  BTW, I can't let my daughter see this picture.  Pink is her favorite color.  It would look very nice on the pink rod I had built for her.

How can you expect the fairer sex to fish very long with a reel this heavy when most guys want a baitcast reel to weigh 6 oz. or less because 9 oz. is too tiring to fish with all day?  :D

Pink is my second favorite color, after green.  In just about every other culture, pink is masculine.

That reel is lit.  I'd fish with it.

Same.

If I knew of an electric purple reel of quality, I'd be them all.

ETA: Except for pink being a favorite color, as it's not, but that particular reel is sharp. Purple is my favorite color though.

My first racing road bike was pink (Colnago). I wrap my handlebars in pink, and wear pink socks for breast cancer awareness month. We used to get pliers and shears in pink cause they were much less prone to get stolen on the head boats. I don't own a pink reel, but I would fish one no problem. I guess if I was insecure or had a small thingy, I might feel differently...

I'd make it my loaner reel for my rodless buddies and get pictures. They'll have their own by the next trip.

A quality spray paint would work wonders and honestly it's the only way I'd fish it. Only thing worse would be using it like this?

I had to correct a friend who used to do this a few years ago.

There's a group of 3 ponds 30 minutes from me that I go to once or twice a year. Last year I saw a teenager holding his spinning rod like this and somehow, and i don't know how, trying to cast it like he was fly fishing. I've gone back once this year so far and saw that same teenager doing the same thing. I didn't say a word because, I just, like, I don't know... Was flabbergasted?

My wrist hurt bad enough a few times that I tried fishing my spinning rod that way, the one with this reel on it. Tendinitis. It didn't really work. I ended up switching to lefty.

One thing about this reel - I've showed it to many people and they don't mind this color of pink so much. I mean it isn't hot pink it's more like a salmon. Nobody has ever commented on the color.

My friend that gave me a hard time about it at first has been fishing 40 years and so far my one-year of experience is out-fishing him every time, with this reel :) I should buy him one haha!

I actually find this reel to be very light, but that's probably due to my limited experience. My BPS combo setup is like a brick compared to this, and with my tendinitis I can fish so much longer with this pink one. Could be the rod too.

Mine arrives tomorrow, can't wait! I'll have 3 decent rods to use instead of 2.

Hahaha so much worse than a pink reel.

id rock a pink reel all day. Honestly who gives a *** lol. If anything you will hear it from a close friend. I doubt a guy is gonna cruise by and chirp you ?

Or you could slap a small breast cancer sticker on it and make everyone feel really bad when they say anything about it ?

Updating/resurrecting this funny old thread since I just got a "reaction" on one of my posts.

All my Lady President spinning reels still work great. I have caught all my biggest fish on them - all of my 4 - 5.25 pounders, including the 4.2 in my avatar photo to the left.

My oldest one has a little play in the spool housing so may need a bearing, not sure, but still works great. Don't notice it when fishing. They have served me well, especially considering what I paid for them (66% off).
