Super User J Francho Posted January 31, 2019 Super User Posted January 31, 2019 In just about every other culture, pink is masculine. Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted January 31, 2019 Super User Posted January 31, 2019 I would bet that I would be more likely to use it than my wife. I could not care less about the color. I believe my wife would be insulted if I bought it for her....as if she wasn't 'good enough' to use the gear marketed towards men. Quote
punch Posted January 31, 2019 Posted January 31, 2019 This thread is 2 pages now and nobody has posted a picture of this reel? 1 Quote

The picture doesn't even look pink, it's more mauve. It's not like bright pink. Not as bad as all the fluorescent stuff out there. I saw some fluorescent green rods the other day that I can't imagine using. That would drive me crazy. Quote
Super User WRB Posted January 31, 2019 Super User Posted January 31, 2019 Pflueger offering a Lady reel is offensive to folks because they don't offer a Gentlmen reel, out of touch with current the feminine population. Pflueger should simply call the reel what it is a color option. Tom 1 Quote
georgeyew Posted January 31, 2019 Posted January 31, 2019 For those that missed out on the $21 deal. Sierra has them for $30. Although a few $$ more, it's still a good deal. Quote
Super User the reel ess Posted January 31, 2019 Super User Posted January 31, 2019 You got a goo deal. Who cares what it looks like? I use my daughter's pink spinning reel sometimes. It came off a girls' Ugly Stik combo, but I changed the rod to one my dad had. The Ugly Stik rod was a little too "whippy". Quote
wasabi_VA Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 It’s pretty gay. What color finger nail polish you gonna wear with it? ? we’re just not expected to say it out loud any more. I do love a Pflueger spinning reel though. I should have bought a pink one and would have taken a black magic marker to it. Quote
KDW96 Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 Id use it. Because i dont care what anyone thinks. Besides, you gotta deal. Also, whats the difference in all the people using pink braid etc. It dont matter Quote
OCdockskipper Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 If someone insults you, just make sure you don't get your panties in a bunch! Quote

Weather forecast here insists it has been raining for two days, but it's been mostly cloudless. Sucks because I would have fished. Nah, I'm not painting it. What matters is if the fish like the reel! Thanks for all the input everyone! I'll post vids of me using it on my little Youtube channel so the whole world will know about it soon. Well a few hundred people maybe haha. I'm curious as to what type of rod and line you guys would put on this reel. I guess it might depend on what you already have. Right now I use mono on a 6.5' MF cheap BPS combo. I have a Cabela's 7' medium rod my Dad gave me that needs a reel. "All Pro" I think. It's all I have for now. I'm just getting started. The reel part number has 35 in it, but I remember the specs falling between Pfluegers 30 and 35 size regular Prez reels. It has 10 lb drag, weighs 9.x oz I think. Right now I'm shooting for stripers off the bank, and some bass at a lake off the docks. I intend to get into bass fishing more and will have a small boat soon. But I like catching stripers as well and I do it more often. I'm thinking/guessing (like I said, I've been fishing less than a year) maybe a medium rod and possibly loading it up with 20lb braid, although the bank fishing I do can be rocky, so maybe not. Could use a leader. I've never used braid. Just trying to decide the best setup for a second rod. Would it match up well with a MH? Quote
fin Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 Kastking Pink Braid ? You'll love braid once you get used to it. You'll never go back. Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted February 1, 2019 Super User Posted February 1, 2019 Never tried KastKing, but I do use pink Gliss on a couple of my spinning reels. Quote

BigAngus752 Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 I bought one at the same time you did. I asked my wife if she wanted it and she jumped at the offer. When my wife isn't with me, will it be rigged and sitting on deck ready to go? Heck yes! I don't care if it's pink. It's a good reel. In the words of Homer Simpson, "Just because I'm wearing a pink shirt doesn't mean that I'm some kind of a pink donut eater!" Quote
Backroad Angler Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 You can't beat it for 20 bucks, heck I'll fish with a pink rod if it came down to it! Quote
schplurg Posted February 2, 2019 Author Posted February 2, 2019 Love the suggestions! Barbie rod and pink braid, got it! I'm gonna be so cool. I gotta learn the dance thingy in the GIF on page one. The photo Hank posted is of the correct reel. There are two different Lady Prez, the one I bought is apparently available for limited times. ?? It doesn't look hot pink at all which is good. The regular Lady Prez looks more pink to me. I think it's a cool color the more I look at it. And it feels niiiiice! Um, anyways... I will proudly use this reel. Dammit! Quote

A lady may be impressed by our display of manly confidence! Wait, why did I ask a bunch of dudes in the first place? Or did I? Surely there are some women on the forum? I didn't know there was a Barbie spinning rod. I thought those were all spincasters. Oh I see it's $40. Must be the deluxe model. I followed the image link - that's an actual fishing combo, wow! Looks plasticy but <grabs a pen> um I forgot I gotta go do something. Quote

I just assumed the one you got was the older model being replaced by the other one, but I'm just guessing. I would not hesitate to use pink braid, seriously. Those bright colors are great. I'm using bright yellow, which is pretty popular with a lot of people here. The pink cost a little more than the yellow I use though. Quote

That's part of the reason I didn't get one. One of my buddies would have had way too much fun yanking my chain. It's not that I couldn't take the joke, I just knew he would drive the joke into the ground. I'd never hear the end of it. Another guy once gave me a nice rod, and my buddy already gives me a hard time about that, implying the guy was gay and implying he gave me the rod because he wants me. I tell him maybe he should try the other side, since he never gets laid anyway, and his equipment is junk ? 1 Quote

It's more of a social thing. Mods feel free to move it though if needed. I couldn't pass up the deal on Pflueger's website. A Lady President spinning reel for $21 - clearance. Normally $60. It's pink, yessirree by golly! But it's a President for $21. Before I decided to buy it my friend was saying it's too pink. I thought about painting it, and if I received it and didn't like the color then I would. I watched a few videos on people painting reels to see if I could. I received it today and it is quite pink! There are two different lady models apparently and they are a little different. This seems to be one that is only available at certain times, and normally at full price(?). I read that somewhere. The pink color is a little different on them, and so is the design of the handle and other parts. I was gonna post a link to their site but the reel I bought is no longer there. Anyways, it's pink but I kinda don't care. I'm a little colorblind anyways so I don't notice colors as much as other people I think. And this is a quality reel. It feels really nice. Dude...$21 for a Prez. I almost didn't order it because of the color. That seems really stupid. I don't care if people think it's feminine or "gay" or anything else. I mean I care a little maybe, hence the thread, but I'm going to use it as is. This is an awesome reel for the price. I feel like I'd be stupid NOT to buy it. I only own one rod and reel, a BPS cheapie. So curious what y'all think. Am I gonna get a bunch of crap from you guys at the dock? ? I read a forum, maybe here, where guys bought the reel and didn't care. Others won't touch it. You don't have to be politically correct here, tell it like it is. I am going to use it as is either way. Would you fish with this reel? Personally - I would not. However when you're catching & landing Fatties with it - I'm pretty sure you'll quite 'the crowd'. When you're not - expect some Maybelline references. A-Jay Quote
